What about states with no state taxes?

This is classic Republicanism. We don't need government! We don't want socialism! We don't want handouts!

Post emergency: Why won't FEMA help us wahhhhh

Florida generated $61.9 billion in tax revenue last year. Fifth highest in the nation.

Yes, all sorts of ways for a state to generate revenue. Without looking, I suspect tourists foot a good part of the bill.

Actually, I find it rather consistent (if you use their ignorance and worldview).

They think there is no human-induced climate change BECAUSE humans can control the weather*. Because we can control the weather, the belief that the climate is changing is ridiculous. As such, liberals, who control the weather, are trying to fool us that the climate is changing.

    * They generally don't distinguish between weather and climate - that's the ignorance part.

They're asylum seekers, perfectly legal. But for them, any immigrant not from Nordic/Western Europe is here illegally and should be out in a (death) camp pending deportation.

I have to say the fact that I did not see Dem Hurricane Machines coming was a failure of my imagination.

This is the dumbest time line, if you always assume the most idiotic possible outcome for any situation, you will usually not be too far off.

That sounded strange to me too, but it’s possible that he got a cut on his benefits and misunderstood the reason, or that he fell in one of many donut holes that people face when different entities handle them.

Some possibilities are that they raised his premium for Medicare, which I think that comes out of his Social Security check, or that some of their benefits that are managed by the state were cut, since states also establish the criteria for qualifying.

He did not survive the Milkshake Duck, however, if half the online stories about his criminal past are true.

I thought I understood him to say that he had no money coming in but maybe I misheard. It was a bit difficult for me to make out what he was saying, tbh.

Her certainly fared better than Harry S. Truman who refused to evacuate his cabin on the slopes of Mt. St. Helens...

Suggestion to add "And Severe Weather" to thread title.

Friggin roof blew off Tropicana Field. Was to be a staging area for the hurricane workers

Seems Milton wasn't as bad as the mainstream media's build-up. I kinda suspected that when I saw how fast the strom was moving.

It wasn't? What were you expecting?

How many people would have died if they hadn't evacuated?

I think the main fear was a storm surge of over 15 feet, which was what the models forecasted if the eye entered through the Tampa bay, but luckily the storm went south a few miles, landed on Siesta key which reduced the storm’s strength and also moved the water in a more favorable direction. The difference between a relatively soft punch and a catastrophic event was 20 miles. literally.
