Film maker Pizzo to Work on MLS Movie - Soccerway, Netherlands with MLS players, 1950 World Cup turned into a movie... by the guy who did Hoosiers and Rudy it has been discussed before, but this is a new article -jim
Can people please check the most basic facts first? England were not the defending Cup champs in 1950.
Are they going to have actors who try to play soccer? or are they going to have players who'll try to act?
Heck, I'll settle for actors who can actually act, but I may be hoping against hope there. With special effect these days, they can just simulate the game with FIFA 2003 and then superimpose the players' heads. Seriously, I think they'll mostly choose actors who can play, at least halfway decently, and then do camera magic and judicial editing to make the action exciting, if not truly representative of the game (that may be asking a bit much). It seems like in recent years sports movies have been a little better, in terms of the way game action is depicted.
So what are the chances that the actor who used to be on the Galaxy(Andrew Shue??) will be in this movie? Seems to me that he might be the perfect candidate for something like this since he's already an actor.
Hey Lanky, what are you trying to do, make me look bad? I like that he says they're trying to make it as accurate as possible, but since when was the rest of the world so discerning when it comes to entertainment? Baywatch is incredibly successful outside the U.S. This is not a good omen for this movie. Nevertheless, if the soccer action is on-target, that's something good.
Aw, you don't need my help for that! In A Shot At Glory, the director hired two lower division Scottish teams and had them play for ten or twenty minutes, then they changed sides and filmed for another ten or twenty. This way it could looked as natural as possible.
