Making a new thread to discuss the future of the Seleção.. New manager, new players coming up..

Jorge Jesus has all but confirmed as our new manager but anything can change..

Leave Vitinha and Bruno Fernandes in the U.S.

Call up Mateus Fernandes (Tottenham) and Gustavo Sá who just signed with West Ham.. I bet you they don’t pass backwards..

Share your thoughts.. Let’s move on from the Spain World Cup thread and this nightmare era..

Why you excited about Sa signing for a second division team, that’s not a good look.

I think the team will automatically be better just by not having Ronaldo in it

Roger went for Saudi money though. I doubt west ham is paying him that much so it’s not really the same. Makes it seem like no other better teams wanted Sa

Because anybody is an upgrade from our rat piece of sh*t midfield: Bruno, Vitinga, J Neves. Send them all to China. I genuinely hope they never get called up again. The team would have played better Palhinha at DM and I said this before the WC. Why TF did we call up Samu over Palhinha. MAN WTF.. ******** MARTINEZ.

Give Vitinha and neves another chance. You underestimate just how bad Bruno is. For his entire career at man utd, they have always had a bad midfield. Players have come and gone, and yet every season it’s still bad. He is the common denominator, no midfield looks good under this guy.

Good points man, midfield looked amazing without him. Night and day difference.

Gonçalo Ramos will likely be playing as the starting striker for Milan and the NT and should be entering his prime. Mateus Fernandes will be a starter at Tottenham under De Zerbi.

As for manager, if it's JJ at the helm, I think he'll go 4-2-3-1 as he loves to play a #10 or second striker. I expect Felix will play as he loves him, and naturally that should be his position. Bruno could play there too obviously.

Let's see if Inácio/Araújo develop further, we need more solid depth at CB as well.

Also let's not forget Rodrigo Mora, Quenda, Afonso Moreira, even Flavio Goncalves or Daniel Banjaqui. And who knows what other young starlet can appear in the next 4 years.

What we really need is Portuguese clubs to retain players and select guys who will actually bust their ass for their country and a Portuguese manager to push them to attack and fight.

No team was walking around like us. The fact that Ruben dias thinks we did well speaks volumes of the brainwashing

I want a player manager, not Jorge. Sorry!

    Analytics has change the game...
but I can tell you Portugal will be stacked in midfield
    Mateus/Mora
    Quenda/Leao in the wing.

Not giving up on Roger Fernandes, I think he's going to be a solid player.

He's been inconsistently bad for us, sorry but he's done. We need more creativity...
Enter: Mora/Mateus, then unleash JP as a shield when we need him in tough games.

Thank you for also realizing we need to move on from him.. I know it is a lot for some to handle right now since we just lost but it's the cold hard truth.. Give me Mateus Fernandes for sure, call up Rodrigo Gomes, Afonso Moreira and Gustavo Sa.. Give them a shot.. Also let Mora actually play for once. Not 5 minutes at the end of a meaningless game. Shame on Martinez..

What’s with the Mora hype. I personally don’t see it, hes just too small and weak. His dribbling and technical ability is great, but he seems to be a “luxury” type player who needs the entire team built around him to cater to his weaknesses

Portos coach does not seem to trust him at all

I would like us with a strong DM like Palhina play a 4123. This would press more up the middle to create more chances instead of always going back and to the side with passes and no creativity.

We generally have a loser mentality. Mix that with shitty coaches and we will get cooked at every major tournament.

There is never any garra or will to win. Must change this attitude. We have the talent right now.

Let's see what the future holds without the security blanket CR7.

Mora could very well end up as a busy but the coach last season mentioned a few times that he wanted to ease him in and not rush him like the previous season.

That’s kinda what we were doing in 2020-2024 off and on. Palhinha being left out of this World Cup squad is gonna be a huge mystery forever..

Iv been advocating for nunes in midfield forever. He compliments the psg duo so well. We need his strength, pace and dribbling in that midfield.

This. This is exactly where they have to start. A manager that changes the mind set of this team that has been playing this shitty defensive, small team mentality for almost two decades. Then see where and what players fit in the system and not be afraid to leave a guy like Bruno on the bench or at home if they dont fit with the team.

Roberto Martinez in the last 3 major tournaments with Belgium and Portugal (WC 22, Euro 24, WC 26) :

13 games 5 win 5 draw 3 loss (game won on the shootout count as a draw)

    14 goals scored
    8 goals conceded

Goals minus penalty & own goal (9 goal)

Result: grup stage, quarter final, round of 16.

    Simply terrible:devilish:

The reality is unless a phenom comes out of nowhere we are not getting passed the round of 16 at the next euro or the world cup.

The u17 world champions likely at most will produce 1 or 2 players that will ride the bench in 2030.

We absolutely wasted the greatest goal scorer because the Portuguese mentality which is on Full Display in this board is of such jealousy and ridiculous conservatism that we abandon what works in qualifying to play safe on the big stage and then blame the only one who really wants to win when we don't use him at all... But it was his fault. Can't wait for Ramos to score all the goals vs France, Spain and Germany. Pauleta 2 incoming.

I was so happy when Santos left and then absolutely heart broken when we hired the clown that ruined Belgium... A Spaniard on top of things.

From here out it should be Portuguese coaches only. But the fpfis about money and nothing else so probably getting a washed up Italian manager next.
