Fox Soccer Channel Acquires Champions League TV Rights in US the only hope is that FSC keeps the English commentary like they do currently for UEFA Cup matches and the PL. otherwise, Max Bretos is going to be doing the games ;(
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** Whoa....so does that mean people without FSC will get nothing from the CL?? That's a huuuuge coup for FSC, but sucks for the rest of us. Without ESPN 360 broadcasting the games....********in hell.
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** It's actually a lot better for people who can't get 360, though. Like me.
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** I will hunt down and kill Max Bretos before he gets to be the commentator on any CL match.
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** Obviously, this is a huge acquisition for FSC. Too bad their production skills have all the aesthetic qualities of a high school TV station. Hopefully this will expedite their previously announced move to HD. Please... NO Max Bretos, and Pretty Please... NO Christian Miles. I wonder what a play-by-play team of Derek Rae and Bobby McMahon would sound like (assuming, of course, that Rae would jump ship from ESPN to FSC). Or would you make McMahon the primary studio analyst and stick another guy in the booth to do color?
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** Their production often reminds me of the old MISL games that were on SportsChannel in the early 90s. Say what you will about ESPN's overall treatment of soccer, but their CL coverage has been pretty good, Tommy Smyth exempted. Might be tough to get Derek Rae seeing as how he also does work for ESPN International.

Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** Wow, that sucks a big one. I just switched to Dish network so I could get Setanta, and I don't believe they offer FSC.
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** "Ronaldo with the serve into the box, Rooney, ROONEY! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss" Not looking forward to it.

Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** Hey in their defense, they needed the time slots for women's college basketball, so... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FGI7R0u3TQ"]YouTube - WNBA Live 2008[/ame]
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** and here i thought they were getting serious about football. terrible move.
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** My thoughts exactly. They had the CL, MLS coverage, they've been showing Soccernet Press Pass (albeit on the extra ESPNs likes Classic/Deportes), and there were the rumors that they were gonna get Setanta. And instead, this.
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** I'm sure they'll still find a way to sublease some games, the way Setanta does right now for the CL from ESPN and for the PL from Fox. Fox especially loves subleasing their footballing properties, Uncle Rupert loves the extra coin.
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** Unless they just changed it within the past few months, Dish carries both. When I had it (back in August) it was $15 to add Setanta, and FSC was only available through a programming package upgrade (which was $10 extra from what I had). My parents paid the normal price, so it cost me $25 per month to watch every United game (and others) which I thought was worth it.
Re: **** The Official Champions League Thread**** I looked on their website this afternoon and didn't see anything about FSC. I guess I should give them a call to double-check.
