Always remember that Kyle Beckerman was on the same national youth teams as Landon and DeMarcus and didnt get a senior cap until 2012/2013. What happens if Freddie puts it together and becomes a dynamic attacker and helps the club move up to the premier division over the next two years.
He'll then have the closure his comments indicate he has been seeking. No meat-headed commentary needed. No snark needed. No juvenilia needed. No spite needed.
You didn't a very good player from Sweden, you got him from England, Man U to be precise, via PSG, AC Milan, Barcelona, etc. He left Malmo/Sweden at 20. He joined the Galaxy at 37. The discussion was about national leagues, not national teams or national team players.
I do appreciate your post. I will (slightly) defend those of us who've been making humorous comments at the expense of Adu by noting that the guy has had a long career filled with more opportunities than pretty much anyone else would ever get solely because of his early stardom and yet he has failed over and over and over at ever lowering levels as time has passed. I do hope he can prove, to himself if no one else, that he's finally got his head on straight and is willing to train hard and be a professional. Even if it is with a Swedish 3rd division club.
Solely? There is no "solely" in the world. He's got 14 clubs listed per wikipedia and 198 appearances over 16 years, close to half of which were his first 3 years at DC. Another 3rd was at Philadelphia. Since he left Philly he's been at 5 clubs before this one and he's gotten 36 appearances combined. His trajectory has been down, down, down, down, down each time since his "hay day", which I'll propose stopped after Philly. His history is very well documented in this thread.
Yes. Possibly even a (relatively) serious one. Like the rest of the former Yugoslavia, Serbia is breeding-ground for footballing talent exports and has been heavily scouted by all of Europe's leagues for decades. In addition, the game there - slower, less physical, very technical - would be right up Freddy's alley. If he'd shown well there a move to Greece, Turkey or Russia - and certainly the likes of Poland - would have been on the cards. Even if he'd stayed in Serbia, the big sides don't pay their important players too badly (Championship wages are not unusual at those teams), certainly a lot better than the Swedish 3rd tier does and there'd be EL ball in a good year. It'd have been a good place for him to build the kind of wunderkind-who-didn't-pan-out career that wins a player elder statesman respect as well as sympathy
Sweet! Another jersey for the closet. Am I the only one that has this 14-jersey eclectic collection? You know, Zlatan signed not to long ago with AC Milan, and he's 39. We could have 8 more years of Adu signings!
And Thomos Brolin was also a vacuum cleaner salesman... the Swede who also didn't exacltly fulfill his potential... and now Freddy moves to Sweden... hmm, I'm sensing something here... https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/7342174/leeds-tomas-brolin-quit-football-vacuum-cleaner/
