According to the Soccerway website, Osterlen plays its final game of the 2020 season this Sunday. If Freddy doesn't play then (which seems kind of soon for a new signing to play), he's going to have to wait until next April for Osterlen to play another game.
Maybe they signed him to a contract that is pay by play with the intention of giving a guy notorious for bad training habits 6 months to get fit and show he can hang? If they don't have to pay him then it might be worth the gamble for such a tiny club.
What on earth possesses you, or anyone else who's posted since this was announced, to think that Freddy is being paid by the club? There was a lot of doubt over whether he was being paid a not-nominal salary, even when he was in Serbia, and certainly in Finland. I know there's a sucker born every minute, but to be unaware of Freddy's record of non-performance and non-fitness over the last decade requires a remarkable degree of ingenuity and determination. To add a salaried contract to that . . . TBH I wouldn't be surprised if Freddy is, erm, "playing" for free in return for the profits on the sales of his shirt and a (small) apartment: he gets to strike a "remember me? I used to be big time, once upon a time" pose once again and they get some publicity.
My post you quote says that maybe he signed a contract whereby he doesn't get paid unless he plays, and that given his history of bad training habits it might be a reasonable risk for a tiny club to take (paying whatever the costs might be just to have him in training). I'm not sure how that conflicts with what you're saying.
It doesn't. I picked a stock phrase and just plugged it in. It wasn't a good phrase. Blame me. Or Freddy. Or Klinsmann
Definitely not. Drop the Allsvenskan's Top 5 into MLS and they'd take 5 of the bottom 8 places in the Supporters Shield standings. The only teams in Scandinavia that would do well in MLS are Danish; Copenhagen, Midtjylland and maybe Brondby.
Magnus Eriksson played with the Quakes the last few years and was just sold back to Djurgårdens IF Fotboll this summer. He was a decent player for San Jose and held his own and even got better playing under Almeyda but never lit anything up. He wasn't really a national team level but you could tell he was a European first division quality club player though.
Malmö FF was runners-up in the 1978–79 European Cup Champions losing to Trevor Francis and Nottingham Forest! That was 41 years ago!
Also produced 40 years ago.... I always like Tomas Brolin though....he was a great player at Parma.....
That didn't happen. It didn't happen. It didn't happen. It never happened. That didn't happen. It didn't.... It didn't happen. It never happened. That didn't happen. It didn't happen. It didn't... It never happened. That didn't happen. It didn't happen. It didn't happen. It never happened. Never...
Wouldn't be a big deal for him. That's, probably, some player dad, doing that for free in his spare time.
3G are you paying attention? Can't wait to see Adams, McKennie, Pulisic, Reyna and a new and improved Adu on the field together. Feddy is a late bloomer, and still has plenty of miles on those little used legs. !!!!!!!
