...thus rendering last weeks excuse just that - an excuse, or better yet, a huge, steaming pile of crap.

That said, where has this Metro team been all my season?!!

Gotta love Shep -- "Aw man, he couldn't do that again if he had a hundred shots!"

Top five candidate for Goal Of The Year, no doubt.

awesome, great goal, better than zidane's with becks assist a few days back.

  8. I noticed the volume up and those bells and foghorns. They don't want the soccer moms to hear 101.

    God I hate Giants Stadium.

    Can you sing H-A- Double R- I -S -O-N spells HARRISON!?

In addition to the bells I can't take the horns as my right ear is still hearing them from the section to my right where a whole team was cooordinating sounds throughout the game.

Lines look like they are here to stay and dissapointing to say the least. Can't wait to get our own stadium with real grass. Anyone notice the artificial turf's green color is fading fast. From the 2nd game of the year that I went to until now the color is much lighter to me and also the ball rolls a lot faster right now than earlier as well.

  10. Shep is *#*#*#*#. Woly could have done it 100 of 100 times if Messing were in the goal. Shep can't say something good about the Metro even if you had to choke it out of him. He is one of those old "NASL was superior" farts. Give Messing the hook.

Woah Nelly! Shep was genuinely pumped in that call, and meant no disrespect to Woly (and what a strike!!!). If you ever saw Shep with Cosmos or Arrows, I don't think you'd dare write what you just did.

My frustration with his commentary on MSG tonight (and I'm deeply deeply bummed to have been unable to be in the Swamp for this one!) was when Shep started to complain about the gridiron lines, mentioned last week's lame weather excuse, but never picked up the thread again.

Was an excuse given for the lines tonight? Do Metros have any recourse or can NJSEA just violate any and every one of their tenants' agreements?
It struck me as a massive "we don't care" to MetroManagement from the "Authority."

How playable do you think last year's field would have been if there was a soccer game in the rain on Saturday, a football game on Sunday, another football game in the rain on Monday and a hurricane passing through Thursday night to boot?

Hell you couldn't even stand up on that field near the sidelines on a good day.

I'll take this field even if it does have football lines on it. It's an improvement over anything the Metro have played on except maybe when the tray system was brand new.

Maybe the stadium authority struck a deal with the Metros, something like "we want to keep the lines on for some reason (the football teams, laziness, more cost-effective at this point) ... and we'll pay you off with X dollars ... happy?"

Those horns should be banned. They are a health hazard. If one get blown near you you can't hear for five minutes.

Those lines suck. The only good thing is that the yellow lines could actually be seen tonight.

As for the speed of the turf. It was supposed to get faster as it was played on. If you remember the first couple of games, it was actually slower than a US open rough.

I did find it interesting the played "Hell's Bells", but could I suggest some songs that would be better to get the rowed more amped

    AC/DC's "TNT", or "Thunderstruck"
    Ice Cube's "Natural Born Killaz"
Metallica's "King Nothing" or "Enter Sandman"

I fell these would help....but NOTHING AT ALL WOULD BE BEST DURING FOOKING CORNERS!!!!

Theory: We're going to see the yardlines for the rest of the year. The super-removal technique is being reserved for the endzone logos.

I don't really mind the lines so much as I mind how invisible the soccer field lines are.

I've already accepted that the grid-iron is going to stay on the field.
But I am glad that they removed the NFL logo from the center circle. Why should MLS advertise another league?

I'm normally someone who screams at all the 'supporters groups' of people who scream that there shouldn't be horns. But for the first tiem I was watching the game last night on TV, one which had a lot of those plastic horns and it DID really become annoying. The kid who I was watching it, who was not a soccer fan, kept asking me why people were blowing the damn horns all the time? I think I'm finally converted on the issue of horns.

I was at the game with 2 guys who are not soccer fans and while they enjoyed the game, one of them in particular was becoming increasingly irritated by the horns as the game went on.

I still say they should take everyone with a horn and put them all in one section on the 300 level and let them blow each other's ears out.

Yeah i don't know. They are pretty annoying, but it's still part of an 'atmosphere' who's blowing those things anyways, just kids? From an objective perspective, the people who say, 'we the supporters groups, are the ones that should only be heard.' i sometimes find that a bit ridiculous, because if you can't shout or chant over the horns then that's your problem. but being a bit of a baseball purist, i'll be damned if i ever see or use a Thunder Stick in Fenway Park.

BTW. The football lines look like crap, but what are you going to do, there's baseball and football teams that have to share their facilities too, it's just too bad its so obvious with a game like soccer. Besides hopefully Harrison is on its way sooner than later.

Actually, I saw numerous adults blowing the horns. Especially after the game, on the walk out. I was very tempted to start hitting people.

If anyone looked at the items forbidden at The Swamp before the game, noise makers were listed as contraband. Why aren't those horns in that category?

I dont think supporters clubs hate it because no one else should make noise. Its just generally annoying supporters clubs or not. I've been sitting in sections other than 101 this year and I can tell you that those things are so freaking annoying to the point that it makes me feel like not wanting to come back if it was anything else.

Case in point I ran into a couple of buddies who aren't neccessarily "soccer fans" just guys who got into Metro with me back in tha day and are not "hardcore" supporters club dudes. They had purchased season tickets after seeing DOnadoni and Gio do their magic, decided not to during the Lothar days and bought them again in 2000 till this year simply because they couldn't take the damn horns. They weren't really "sports fans" to begin with other than just using it as a social thing to hangout with friends/family. They couldnt afford tickets to anything else so Metro was it. Now they just rather not be annoyed by the whole thing and watch it at home or not even at all.

I think things like this were we have fans who are "joe six pack" types is were those horns do the most damage. You might just piss off a few dudes in the supporters section but they are still going to come back no matter what. Others who are willing to give the sport/team a chance are going to be driven away by horns. ANd I dont think the HORNS are the ONLY thing that's going to turn them off but they are already dealing with a whole lot of other crap to be there to watch a mediocre league. Theres no reason why MFO should give them yet ANOTHER reason not to comeback.

ESC uses the horns responsably, and for musical purposes....... the other people don't.... it just makes you want to take the horns from these people and beat them senseless with their own horns....
