Raisins are dried grapes. Wine is made from grapes. Hence my saying the closest I came to eating raisins in France is wine.
I know that. We have grapes here, and some of them become raisins. I had not heard of wine being made from raisins. EDIT: I now have heard of raisin wine.. I know that, too, even as I have relatives who've made it with other fruits. lol Got it..
I’m back in Nebraska to spend a couple days with friends and then a few with my parents. Currently in Lincoln. Enjoying a Lincoln-style (I.e., include cream cheese as a topping) Hawaiian pizza.
Amarone (della Valpolicella) wine is made from sun-dried grapes. They don’t reach the full store-bought-raisin-level of dehydration, but they are dried a bit to caramelize and concentrate some sugars that persist through fermentation. It isn’t quite dessert wine territory, and it usually ends up around 16% ABV (a good 20% higher than most other reds, but not 20%ABV like most dessert wines). It’s also pretty damn expensive. If you find a cheap one, you probably don’t want to drink it.
I'm interested in where the meme maker lives. I'm pretty sure I can take the smug hipster undergrad grin off his face.
Come to DC. The food court at the Museum of the American Indian is amazing and their fry bread gets high marks.
I tagged along with my wife to a Willa Cather conference at the UN-L campus. Our best meals were in the dorm where we stayed. That's not a slam on the restaurants near campus. Holy shit, dorm food is better than it was in my day!
How ironic that the things others haven't had is one of the few things on the list I have had! Our Anthropology Club used to do fry bread as a fundraiser in association with the local tribes.
Cream cheese as a topping is brilliant. Paired with a good pepperoni or spicy BBQ chicken, it’s one of the best combos in the world.
