Toledo, the ref who called the handball on Brown two weeks ago, is officiating the match tomorrow night.
Hopefully he will see this as an opportunity to rectify his mistake. But I'm not getting my hopes up.
That's it! I couldn't figure out why we have played in such a lackluster manner this season. It's the refs! Why crabapples? Because they're bigger than horse chestnuts!
While I admit the team has been playing a spectacular brand of crap for a good portion of the season (altho still better than the effort put forth by ManU on Sunday), I do believe they should have won the last two matches. The make-up call was **************** (which I expressed at the match) and the ref blew not one but two calls for penalties in NJ. Take 4 away from Metros and give 5 to the Fire and they're back in first. Also amazed that the penalty box take down of Williams was not even mentioned on MLSWrap or any other coverage of the games.
I'm gonna put 150 on the Fire...even thought I don't know a guy who knows a guy. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
You sure?? The match preview on MLSnet lists Heron as the center. "INVESCO FIELD at MILE HIGH DENVER, Colo. 7:30 pm MT (Comcast/CHI) REFEREE: Richard Heron. SAR (bench): Paul Scott; JAR (opposite): Jose Corro; 4th: Craig Burns "
So no chance to see Dave hand Toledo the $500.00 check for the fine, and then give him a Three Stooges style eyepoke. Danm!
Hopefully the Fire will finally have a match where the ref doesn't make a difference. Between the past 2 mls games having penalities, gifted and missed completely, and the open cup game ref switch, I think there has been enough strange ref actions for the rest of the season for the Fire.
