I'm just going to leave this here. I won't spoil the score, it's the Canadian Premier League Final in its entirety.

  6. Horribly dull match through 72'. No one looks very interested and Rafa Leao looks least interested of all. No Pulisic yet, he's on the bench.

    Watching The World Cup Draw.

In the first shock and a major upset of the Draw, Donald J Trump was awarded the Inaugural FIFA Peace Prize to honor his EXTRAORDINARY ability to (and I quote):

    Unite People in Peace,
(reflecting FIFA's motto, "Football Unites the World")

    Yes, this is real!

Yes, here is the actual "rationale" behind the prize:
The award will be presented to individuals who, through their unwavering commitment and their special actions, have helped to unite people all over the world in peace and consequently deserve a special and unique recognition.

I cannot imagine a person in the World at this point who is MORE deserving and more appropriate to receive this award than US President and "leader of the free world" Donald Trump.
    From his
    -wonderful immigration "program"
-to the unquestionable excellence in that he has "ended 8 wars in just 8 months"
-to his brave stance towards peace by blowing up ships in the Caribbean and Pacific,
-to his measured and well considered comments on the Somali Community just this week,
he is the most awesome purveyor of peace in the World.

"This is your prize, this is your peace prize," Infantino said.

As for the inevitable "wrong thread" comment, this is the appropriate thread, since it directly relates to non-Chicago Fire soccer watching.

In a slight chance your last comment may be directed my way, I agree that FIFA has no business awarding a Peace Prize to Trump (or anyone else).

Nope, not directly. It was a general comment.
I also make comments about things being in the wrong thread.

    Full Draw
    upload_2025-12-5_15-22-23.png
A-Mexico likely will have Denmark or Czech Republic.
B-Canada could be in second or third or last, since Italy could be in the group.
C-Brazil with a cake walk of a group (I actually won a cake in a cake walk in 4th grade)
D-US have a not so easy draw, for the USMNT to screw up, again.
E- Germany should feast on this division, or crap right out of the Cup, again.
F-Toughish group for the Dutch. Poland ends up in second (could be Ukraine). Sorry, Japan
G-Belgium luck out, but will lose to Egypt
H-Spain with a not so easy group. Uruguay are decent.
I-Early Candidate for "Group of Death" as Norway is my dark horse pick to go far, and Sengal is a top 20 side.
J-Argentina a bit lucky with this draw.
I-Portugal could be in a bit of trouble, but not likely.
L-A somewhat difficult group, three teams in the top 30, two in the top 10.

*Uefa play-off A: Italy, Wales, Bosnia-Herzegovina or Northern Ireland

*Uefa play-off B: Ukraine, Poland, Albania or Sweden

*Uefa play-off C: Turkey, Slovakia, Kosovo or Romania

*Uefa play-off D: Denmark, Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland or North Macedonia

*Fifa play-off 1: DR Congo, Jamaica or New Caledonia

*Fifa play-off 2: Iraq, Bolivia or Suriname

Been seeing stories about Paulo and Wicky lately. Does this fact mean they were better than given credit for and the fault was just the owner Or just lots of stupid people out there. Of course, there is Nelson R.!

I do not think that Wicky was a bad coach.
I just do not think he really understood coaching in MLS. Also, being hired just prior to the Pandemic happening probably did not help his progress with the Fire.
He had a good record at Basel.
He had a good record at Young Boys.
Not sure why anyone would blame "the owner" for Wicky, since he was hired by Joe Mansueto.
Dumping Paunovic and hiring Wicky was one of the first things Joe did when the season ended, after taking charge of the team in August, 2019.
He dumped Paunovic, hired Wicky and relegated Rodriguez to "Club President" (replaced by Georg Heitz) all in Fall, 2019.

If by Paulo, you meant Paunovic, well, f*ck him and Rodriguez he rode in on.

What an end to the match, though.

Mad scramble in front of goal, Arsenal flopping about desperately trying to clear the ball and Buendia rifles it into the back of the net with the "last kick of the match" to win in the 94th minute.

MLS Cup just about to kick off on Fox.

Funny, how putting a game on "free" television lends itself to people tuning into it.

Had it been exclusively on MLS Season pass, I would not even know (or care) that it was on today

I am here to watch Thomas Müller spoil Messi's day, once again

It is bizarre that this match is in the postage stamp in Fort Lauderdale and not at the Dolphin's stadium in Miami, especially as the Dolphins are on the road.

There is a weird pink/red hue over the stadium in not Miami, unless it is a filter on the cameras. Close ups of the players, Beckham and the fans are red/pink. Even a shot of the clouds were pink.

    It is very annoying.

If Vancouver ties it up, who can Miami bring in as an attacking sub?

    Luis Suarez.

A bit better than "mighty" Tom Barlow on the bench.

Not needed, as Messi picks up his second assist of the match.

3-1 Miami with 1 minute left.
