Leicester v. Sheffield Wednesday in the English "Championship."

Sheffield Wednesday is hanging on to survival by a thread. Their finances are such a mess that they were banned from the transfer window and had to cancel some of their preseason.

Chicago Red Stars v. Bay City on CBS.

Yep, Chicago soccer on free television.

Second match of the weekend at Bridgeview, after the Fire match. Could have made it a double header. That would have been fun.

    Bad thing is the
Red Stars have only a single win on the season.
The good thing is that win was against Bay City.

Watching this as well, but still have trouble getting behind the team after the absolutely criminal name change. I hope someone comes to their sense on it soon, otherwise I may just look for another team to support as I really do enjoy the quality of play in the NWSL.

And, even worse, the actual criminal they had as a long time head coach in Rory Dames.
Banned for life from coaching in the league, but should have been criminally investigated and, likely, prosecuted.
    What an asshole.

On the plus side, going into half time, the Red Stars tied up the match.

  8. That day in 2021 was one of the biggest let downs ever as a fan. With all the injuries I thought it was Dames' best coaching job to get them to extra time in the championship game. But it smelled fishy that key players like Press, Huerta & Sam Johnson were downright giddy they were shipped elsewhere.

On our way home from Louisville to attend the Chicago House opener the news started leaking about the Washington Post report that was going to print the next day. I still haven't gotten over my rage at that news & vowed I would never be back. I was willing to give the new ownership a chance, but they haven't done anything to lure me back. Like a lot of other teams in Chicago, maybe worse, this is a team no one chooses to play for, even when all other things are equal.

Philly dominated for 75 minutes. Fire II scored 2 late to win 2-0. 16 year-old GK Melinda was unbelievable! 8-10 stops, many of them really difficult. Fire GK tradition for excellence continues if he plays like that regularly.

    Awesome!

  16. They had to grind this one out because Philly controlled the game with their soft pressure that choked off play through the midfield. Cupps, Diouf, & Molenda had far too much defending to do too close to the 6 yard box & the front 3 saw little of the ball. Matko was fuming at halftime & you can bet they got an earful. BUUUT, Philly 2 is top of the table on merit so even if it was a bit of smash & grab this was a big win.

Hamburg tied it in the 2nd half added time, and they now lead 2-1 in the 99th minute in extra time.

Aston Villa v. Newcastle in a very, very, very, very dull affair as the EPL (which sucks) kicks off this weekend.

  20. BOOOOOO!!!

Watching the OTHER Hamburg derby St. Pauli vs Eintracht Neuerstadt from the north suburbs.

The wife glanced up as the players left the tunnel and observed, "There's a sticker with a bad word on it. It says F*ck HSV." If only we could have a sticker above the players tunnel that says "St.Louis drinks our sh*t."

I'm watching Norderstedt v St. Pauli. 0-0 at the moment but it just started 6 minutes ago.

I'm there with ya. I did cancel my Peacock because they wanna suck up to the orange man so f**k that. No SUCKY EPL this year for me.

EDIT: Sorry that was Paramount...which I also cancelled. Just ESPN+, an overpriced Netflix, Apple and HBO.

    *Deep breath*

Now and throughout the morning: All the sucky EPL games live on normal TV networks.

(in between all games today recorded: EFL Championship: Derby County / Coventry City)

Later, NWSL: Kansas City / Orlando.

Even later, MLS: Fire vs The suckiest city that ever sucked a bag of rubber dicks.

Latest, USL Championship: Sacramento / Oakland.

Paramount sucked up to the Orange Ignoramus.
Did Peacock do so, as well?
Must have missed that with all the sucking up that has been going on in media, law and education.

They've all sucked up to Mango Mussolini unfortunately. Only reason I'm watching the EFL game recorded is CBS SN is part of my TV package. I've canceled all of my subs, I have ways of catching any game I want and any show as well.
