Serie A games moved to today so Inter can rest before the champions league final. Two crappy looking games but let’s pray the outcome gets us to a playoff final between Napoli and Inter.
I remember when half of the N&A board would call MLS Mickey Mouse for rescheduling teams games to give them a break before a CONCACAF game. Guess we were ahead of our time, or the N&A board was overreacting to a widely practiced accommodation that other leagues have been making for their teams.
Never, sir! Never! In my entire life, I have not read such a comment. What you write is heresy, if not blasphemy! Why I never thought I would see the day when one would accuse the precious flowers on the N&A board of overreacting! May zog have mercy on your soul and forgive this transgression!
Moved from the News Thread so it does not get clogged. 77th minute and Sunderland tie it up. The Blades will curse the off side obstruction call in their second call. If that goal has stood, I doubt Sunderland would have offered much. Now? Game on for the last 13 minutes plus extra time.
It's getting pretty serious out there. That's the second or third nasty tackle in the last 5 minutes.
WOW! That was exciting! I'm so ready to make an omelette that I selfishly am grateful if this doesn't go into Extra Time.! Lol
They are fighting HARD to avoid having to go to the EPL (which sucks). Sure, they received a $300,000,000 windfall (as the announcers have stated at least 20 times today), but then they have to play in the EPL (which sucks). Of course, in the EPL (which sucks) they get to play Tottenham and Manchester United, so whatever team gets there should manage at least four wins. Easier matches than Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End.
Good for Sunderland! It has been about 8 years since they were forced to be in the EPL (which sucks).
Charlton Athletic beat Leyton Orient 1-0 to return to the Championship and one step closer to returning to the EPL (which sucks). The Addicks are still a long way away from the Alan Curbishly led teams in the 90-early 2000s when they were a pretty respectable team. Never great, but could hold their own. Leyton Orient came close to equalizing a couple of times. Too bad for them. They have languished in the lower divisions for decades, even falling out of the football league about 10 years ago. Of course, they were recently purchased by a group of Americans (and I am sure the fans are just thrilled by that!).
And, now, "decision day" for the EPL (which sucks) kicks off. Matches on NBC, USA, CNBC, Telemundo, SyFy, and the rest of Peacock. I am sure @bunge, is glued to his tv! Not much to play for, other than Champions League slots. In the "feature" match (on NBC), EPL (which sucks) winners are losing to FA Cup winners Crystal Palace. It is also a preview of the Community Shield match which will happen on August 9th, and features the FA Cup v. EPL (which sucks) winners After dominating the entire season, the wheels have fallen off at Liverpool, winless in four since wrapping up the title. Not that they really care, I imagine. Slew of Italian matches on Paramount+ this afternoon, as all the top leagues...and the EPL (which sucks) wrap up for the season. On to the very excellent and wonderful (and not AT ALL corrupt) Club World Cup!
In Super Great News, AFC Wimbledon are leading in the League 2 Playoff final against Walsall. I am a part owner (tiny, tiny part) of AFC Wimbledon through The Dons Trust. I received an email yesterday that they have 28,000 Dons fans at the match at Wembley. Which is weird, since I doubt they have that many supporters. Plough Lane (Cherry Red Records Stadium) holds 9,400 and there are about 5,500 members of The Dons Trust. Edit: Match over. AFC Wimbledon back into League 1.
Been watching too much Honest Places and British dudes sleeping in bothys. I need to make a long road trip in the UK.
WHY THE F**K is Tom Cruise on my UEFA Champions League telling everyone how much of an "athlete" he is? What is going on????
I went to the main CBS feed. I guess I had Paramount on since 1pm just to have the pregame on and when the kickoff happened suddenly it was David Beckham "and friends" which was super odd and I just detest Tom Cruise and will not watch any of his movies or support anything he's involved with. https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/ne...friends-live-for-uefa-champions-league-final/
