Leyton Orient's stadium is a shed. When I was studying in London, I lived within walking distance of it (a long walk, but still). Went there a couple of times. Saw them play Tottenham in a preseason friendly.
WOW! Shaqiri scores 3 goals in 10 minutes at start of second half when his team was down to 10 players! Lugano loses 2-5 to Basil. ( read story, did not watch)
Here are the goals: https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/com...iri_scores_a_hattrick_in_9_minutes/?rdt=48069
Dammit! I missed the FA Cup Final, as we had graduation. Congratulations to Crystal Palace, winning their first real championship in 119 years. And even bigger congrats for heaping more misery on THE GREATEST TEAM IN THE WORLD, Manchester City.
Sorry to those who don't care about more news from England, but it's the final seconds of Everton men's futbol from Goodison Park. Over 81 million people have gone through her turnstiles in 133 years. For once they will win today.
On the West Ham v. Notts Forest match in the EPL (which sucks), West Ham play it out the back and, of course, cough up the ball for an easy Forest goal. This disease is infecting much of world football.
Decided to watch the FA Cup from yesterday. One way traffic in the first half for the lying, cheating bastards from Manchester. Crystal Palace takes advantage of one of their few forays into the Manchester City end. Dean Henderson handles the ball outside the box, but escapes a sending off or even a card (should have been a yellow, but not a sending off). He then saved a penalty about 10 minutes later. Exciting first 40:00 minutes. Pretty dull second half. Massive Crystal Palace support, which is great to see. Their first major trophy after "only" 164 years (and 120 years in their current iteration).
And, of course, heaping more misery on Pep and the lying, cheating bastards from the blue side of Manchester.
Coup for the team formerly known as the Red Stars. Their September 7th match against Orlando will be played at the stadium formerly known as Lakefront Field. https://chicagostars.com/news/chica...front-faceoff-match-on-evanstons-north-shore/
Do they have a liquor license there? I’d love to see the Fire do an Open Cup game or two there just to see how well they’d draw at a smaller suburban stadium that has transit nearby.
Euro Final between the 16th and 17th EPL (which sucks) teams, Manchester United and Tottenham. 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the 70th. When I was about 16, we had a restaurant down the street from our house that, after the relative success of "Urban Cowboy," tried to capitalize on the mechanical bull craze and became a country bar called the "Hot Spur." Shortly after opening, somebody spraypainted an "M" at the end of their name. My mother never believed me when I said that I did not do it. I am pretty sure she went to her death thinking I painted the M.
Well...gonna wade in and see if Pittsburgh Riverhounds can pull a "Cupset" against Philadelphia Union who is trotting out a mixed bag lineup. Not bad but not all their A guys. Cavan Sullivan starting on the wing and it'd be nice to see my old teammate's son play for the Hounds. Fingers crossed for the underdogs.
Yeah Pittsburgh really had nothing going forward. Gave up a hand ball peno within the first 15 and every foray forward Pittsburgh couldn't get the final pass or shot. The handwriting was on the wall and Philly outclassed them and I was impressed with the Quinn brothers who both looked pretty pesky on attack. 4-1 final.
