Monterrey won the return leg 5-1 Saturday night to advance to the final. Gringomex Brandon Vasquez scored a stoppage time piss missile for Monterrey. 🇺🇸 Great goal from Brandon Vazquez 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/JjlQ2ZabIL— American Ultras Talk (@ameriultrastalk) December 8, 2024 Halfway through the first half of the second leg America leads 1-0 through gringomex Alex Zendejas' 15th minute goal. If the score holds America advances to the final, but any drawn result will see Cruz Azul through. Alejandro Zendejas with the Golazo for America! He’s been one of Club America’s best players for some time now. His club level has been elite. I wouldn’t be surprised if that translates to more under Mauricio Pochettino. #USMNT pic.twitter.com/G5aMsFcCwG— herculez gomez (@herculezg) December 9, 2024
America survives a wild second half to advance on the night 4-3. Cruz Azul tied the game in the 86th minute, but two minutes later America was awarded a penalty, which after the afters & typical mob around the referee was not taken for another 6 minutes. America saw out 16 minutes of stoppage time.
And it was "all him" beating 2 defenders and the keeper...showed off well his strong combination of physicality and skill Of course, he then had to go do a silly immature celebration 'crowning himself'
In Champions League today: The beautiful implosion of Manchester City continues, with 2-0 defeat to a Winston McKennie (with assist by Tim Weah) led Juventes. Yes, the champions of the EPL (which sucks, by the way) suck SO BAD at the moment that they let an American score against them 9wht another American picking up the assist) and that American was not even Christian Pulisic. Juventus had only managed 7 goals in their first 5 Champions League matches, but put two away against THE GREATEST TEAM IN THE WORLD! with the only CERTIFIED GENIUS as a coach! A team with FOUR of the FIFA Best XI for 2024. Oh, by the way Man City sit 22nd in the Champions League table. They are one point above the drop zone (that position being held by PSG and Stuttgart). In other matches, Feyenoord (**** Ajax) beat Sparta Prague AC Milan beat Red Star Belgrade (Katai did not make it off of the bench) Barcelona scraped a 3-2 win against Borussia Dortmund, with all five goals coming after the 50th minute. I might try to catch the replay of the second half of that one. Stuttgart did themselves a favor by destroying "Young Boys" 5-1. Maybe if the Swiss team had a few "men" in the squad, the score would have been more respectable.
BIG RESULT FROM WARSAW!Legia 1 - Lugano 2Legia had been tied with Chelsea at the top of the UEFA Conference League. Lugano now pulls even with Legia on 12 points. Kacper Pzybylko involved in the match winner. Lugano virtually assured direct passage to the Round of 16.#cf97— Trancendental Willy (@SkywayWilly) December 12, 2024
Gringomex Alex Zendejas with a goal and an "assist" so far early in the second half/first leg of the Liga MX final series.
Manchester Derby. The cheating asshole blue side of the city is leading at half time off of a fractured corner kick. It has been a very poor match between these two fading behemoths in the EPL (which sucks).
Two very late goals by Man U to heap more misery on Pep and his band on assholes. The tying goal was a pretty dumb penalty, so I guess the match "should be" a draw. 1 win in 11 for the cheating bastards from the blue side of Manchester.
Monterrey (1) - America (2) return leg in Monterrey. Brandon Vasquez scored off the bench in the first leg and gets the start tonight for Monterrey. Alex Zendejas starts as second striker after his MOTM performance (G&A) that staked America to the lead. Tonight will feature extra time and penalty kicks if necessary. EDIT: Zendejas' header tees up a 24th minute Richard Sanchez bomb from 24 yards to give America a 3-1 series lead.
America parked the bus, but Monterrey didn't break through until the 85th minute. There was a shot tipped off the bar, but America held out to become the first team ever in the Mexican League to win 3 consecutive liguillas. Honestly, these teams looked really tired & the play was poor.
I don't watch pointyball at all. I was in my office for a while and came into the living room and the Packers v. Seahawks game was on the TV (must have left it on NBC) The neon green Seattle uniforms are the worst outfits I have ever seen. AND we had the spiderman jerseys in Chicago.
After the debacle in the Manchester derby, Pep, the only certified genius in world football: Guardiola delivered a brutal self-analysis as he told Match of the Day: "I am not good enough. I am the boss. I am the manager. I have to find solutions and so far I haven't. That's the reality. "Not much else to say. No defence. Manchester United were incredibly persistent. We have not lost eight games in two seasons. We can't defend that." https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cwy4rr9837yo Waaah!
I caught most of the game and it was fast paced and fun as hell to me. Compared to the average Fire game it was practically a Die Hard movie excitement-wise. Granted, I converted into a lifelong América fan since birth after attending the Fire’s road match against them in Bridgeview a few years ago, so the result was to my liking, but even as a neutral I would feel like it was an entertaining game.
Jhon Duran scored the opening as Aston Villa beat the now pathetic team from the Blue Side of Manchester in this morning's early EPL (which sucks) match. I hope he has given Pep another case of the sads.
