Gotcha. They gave both teams records for PK shootouts during the regular season. The records were about the same, believe each team went to 9 during the season.
Fire II were really good at shootouts early, then lost 3 in a row late. Fun afternoon at the game. Ran into some OG Fire supporters & Javier's truck was serving excellent pork carnitas. His son said Javier was up at 4am cooking & they took 3 hours to finish. Normal starting CB Jaylen Shannon wasn't available so Jean Alpha Diouf, who played 236 minutes the last 3 months started in his place. All he did was play 120+ minutes and smashed in the deciding PK. Diouf turns 22 next March and must be herethrough the work of the African scout. He's a former Senegalese youth international and beach soccer international under contract through next season with an additional club option. I'm surprised he never caught the eye of a French team. The Fire are his first team outside of Senegal.
Thank you so much for info. Really surprised to see him shoot at no.5 slot. I have to confess I knew nothing about him and was really wondering.
He was signed in late March and didn't get in the lineup right away. Then he was injured for a while. I didn't think he played as much as he did since. Big (6'3"), tough and smart CB, but has filled in at both fullbacks. We'll see more of him next season and hopefully Tshetchao fully recovers too. Maybe more Africans are coming. Another player who probably put in his best Fire II performance today is 18yo Colombian DM Juan Miguel Calle. He is also under contract to Fire II next season.
“The vibes in the locker room were incredible,” Fire II captain Poreba said after the match. “It was amazing to have (Joe Mansueto) come in and say some words. Just so amazing.” https://meninred97.com/fire-ii-advance-to-eastern-conference-semifinals/
Mad match at the Bernabeu. Bor Dor did everything right and took a 2-0 lead to the locker room. Whether it was Don Carlo with a halftime pep talk, or the supporters in the stands, but Real kept pounding at the Dortmund defense until the dam broke. Antonio Rüdiger - 60' Vinícius Júnior - 62', 86', 90'+3' Lucas Vázquez - 83'
I absolutely hate the Red Stars errr..Stars rebrand. What is with Chicago soccer teams sucking at this so hard?
Very sad… I’ve only torn 1 and it was a traumatic experience that lingered for around a year…can’t imagine doing that battle multiple times
Man of the match - Guzman Had he not played a big game it would have been at least 4-1… Not a big fan of his, but that was an impressive performance
