Perhaps a better coach would have been able to do things like the AVL coach does and he would still be here.
Maybe, but his current coach tried to dump him previously and couldn’t. https://thehardtackle.com/transfer-...on-duran-ac-milan-inter-milan-interested/amp/ Apparently he was offered to half of Serie A but a deal couldn’t get done.
The point was simply that the coach initially didn’t want him because his problems can overshadow his talent so even a better coach here wouldn’t have necessarily made a difference.
Player training habits, locker room relationships, salary expectations, even on- line behavior can reduce a players contribution to the team and, ultimately, his value by overshadowing his on-field talent. My original point was that the best coaches are often able to minimize or correct these faults.
It seems like the coach wasn’t really responsible for this at Aston Villa. A team of people who were there before Emery have been doing the hard work including convincing Emery that he shouldn’t dump the player. Regardless, we didn’t have the structure to do that but I hope this is now set with the new training facility and other foundational work that was done. Regardless, keeping Jhon with his attitude probably wouldn’t have worked anyway.
My point is still that better coaches solve more problems than poor/average ones. The Fire certainly qualify as a team having more problems and this would seem to be area where Joe’s money could be put to good use.
As a fan of Italian soccer I’ve often made that connection. That said, I hope Jhon is dealing with less of the extracurricular crap Balotelli had to deal with.
Messi and Suarez have 31 field of play goals this season...the Fire have 32...Miami has 67. Messi is fun to watch
I think a better coach would have picked up on what Durán could do a little more quickly and gotten more out of him - looking at what he did and how few the minutes he got were with the hindsight of his current performance almost insists that point. But we got a whole bag of cash for him and it’s hard to say if there was pressure to showcase him without increasing risk of injury that could halt a sale or anything. I don’t know. I remember wanting him to get more minutes myself but it’s like any of that cost us anything and he wasn’t likely to stick around long term once the serious interest from Europe came anyway.
I’m sorry for leaning on “inside info” but what I understood two years ago was that basically he was so disruptive that not playing him was more important than playing him. I have not defended Ezra on much but I have to defer to what is now publicly known about his lack of maturity (a completely fixable problem). It’s why reading about Aston Villa’s struggles makes perfect sense to me. I haven't seen a minute of his play since he left so I’ll try and watch an Aston Villa game or two to see what he’s up to.
Final Red Stars 2 - Houston 0 Ludmila scored off her face for 3 goals in 3 games and Schlegel added a penalty before halftime. Houston took 26 shots with only 2 on target. The Red Stars sit 6th in the table, but close the season with 3 tough games against teams ahead of them.
Union Berlin - Borussia Dortmund I have a twitter friend in Queens where this is a derby match with her husband.
