Out-of-form Aston Villa hosting poor-on-road Liverpool shortly. Champions League spot in the mix.

The EPL (which sucks) has five spots in the champions league this year so most likely both are in.

True -but if Liverpool loses it’s last remaining match and Bournemouth wins both remaining, Bourne not Liverpool goes.

Celtic's third goal sparked a pitch invasion, with the officials deciding against restarting the match.

  9. Lugano end the season with a 4-0 thrashing of Basel (Behrens-10',36'; Steffen-52'; Koutsias-56') that launches them into European qualifiers in a few months. Thus also ends their era in 75 year old Cornaredo Stadium which will be demolished. Cornaredo failed to meet UEFA competition hosting standards which forced Lugano to play home matches at neutral stadiums within Switzerland. In a bit over two months they will be able to play their European home matches at home.

Alpine Messi didn’t make the XI?!
Came in the 62’min, touched the ball 19 times, including a poor FK that had no chance of testing the keeper.

Possibly the limpest I’ve seen them play in over 20 years. Actually embarrassing.

  17. TBH, after the 4th Lugano goal the Basel boys played like they were ready to start the off season a half hour early. The referee blew his whistle at 90 minutes plus Shaqiri was coming back from a few games off injured.

Why would you say COULDN’T instead of DIDN’T? Do you know something about why he didn’t make the starting lineup?

What I know is it was the last game of the season and there would be no difference for them with a win, loss, or draw. I would guess there were multiple subs from a typical starting eleven.

#washed_overrated_”star” couldn’t help Basel enough to beat Lugano?

They did the double last year on Shaqiri’s 20/20 season. He would do more for us than Bamba has…

A player with his CV *should* do significantly more for us than Bamba has….but it was about the same:(

Bamba has such a good cast around him. Playoff caliber for a deep run. Shaqiri would put us over the top!

    Revisionist/fanboy history...
The main change in the attack is Zinck...
Guti produced notably more G+A than Shaq and Bamba doesn't have a Guti to work with...

If we had a KDB CAM, and Lewy passed on us....then maaaaybe Shaqiri would be a good replacement for Bamba...but nah.

You know your comment about Zinckernagel actually supports @bunge 's comment, right?

Shaqiri had 11 goals and 10 assists this season after his monster season last season.

    Bamba never did that.
    Gutierrez never did that.

Nobody is saying we should replace Bamba with Shaqiri.

So....if only Shaqiri had Zinckernagel he wouldn't have sucked?
But Cuypers and Zinck don't have Guti...they have Bamba...and Zinck is performing significantly better than Shaq...for 1/8th the $$$
