Bournemouth extends their best ever EPL unbeaten streak to 13 with a 2-1 away win against their former manager and Newcastle. A solid team effort from a squad that play for the shirt and their soon-to-depart manager. Not a side you want on your upcoming schedule right now.

In the Merseyside derby, Virgil van Dijk for Liverpool has scored in the 101st minute (11 minutes of 11 minutes of stoppage time).
That was something in the EPL (which sucks).

Now comes the big battle between the EPL (which sucks) top 2, as league leader Arsenal head to Manchester to take on City.

The Arse are six points up, but City have a match in hand. If Arsenal win, the title race is probably over. If Manchester City win, the title race tilts in City's favor.

I am rooting for Asteroid to hit the blue part of Manchester.

Interesting match - Aston vs Sunderland with AVL looking comfortable leading 3-1 at min. 85. Ended up 4-3 AvL winning with lots of late action.

1-1 at half then 3-1 then 3-3 then 4-3 @90+5 . Reminded me of last night but Fire did not score at the end.

In the "biggest match in nearly a generation" (as said by Rebecca Lowe in the pre match "Fan Fest"),
    Manchester City hosts Arsenal.

Man City score in the 16 th minute.

Then, 30 seconds later, something truly Stupid happened. The ball is thrown to the Man City goalie Donnarumma (the best Keeper in the World, apparently). He tries to dribble it before clearing it. Kai Havertz is there to slide into the ball and buries it into the net.
    Truly stupid.

  7. Tough choices today between Citeh-Arse & Europe's best team and best team to watch, Bayern, going for another Meisterschalle.

  8. Forty years ago I don't think anyone imagined a Forward Madison vs. New York Cosmos league game on any bingo card, but here we are. Former Fire II players Kanyane (FMFC) & Koffi (Cosmos) are starting. BOY ARE THE COSMOS CRAP!!! Over half of the play is in and around their area. Forward Madison managed every way to not score until Kanyane bagged a gol olympico. Game still in first half, but switching over momentarily to US U-16s vs Mexico. Could be 3 CFFCA starters in this one. Turdean captained & scored in the 1-all draw against England Thursday.

Forty years ago, I don't think anyone imagined a Chicago Fire v. FC Cincinnati league match either.

My daughter and her friend went to a kiosk for the game. She said it was a very good vibe. She sent a picture (a guy in front is wearing an FC Union Berlin jersey)

With a win at home today v Leeds, Bournemouth can go 6th in the table, pending Brentford's away match at Old Trafford.

In a recent, typically crap ESPN article (but I repeat myself), only one current Bournemouth player (Senesi), was rated in the EPL's top 50 players. That's a feature, not a bug.

    This is true, it would.

It would also heap more misery on the now managerless Chelsea (they just fired Liam Rosenior four months into a 6 1/2 year contract), knocking them to 8th on goal difference.

That said, a win by Leeds almost certainly assures them of staying up and meaning that one of West Ham, Nottingham Forest or, gulp, Tottenham would go down and out of the EPL (which sucks, of course).

    Now, it is
    16-Forest 36 points -9 GD
    17-West Ham 33 points -17 GD

    Relegation Zone
    18-Spurs 31 points -11 GD

Hadn't yet seen the sacking of Rosenior, but given his post-match comments (0-3 to Brighton, zero shots on goal), I'm not a bit surprised.

Bournemouth's comparatively easier run-in gives them an advantage over both Brighton and Brentford. It would be great to have Iraola's run as manager qualify them for European competition for the first time ever (please, Jah, Europa League not Conference).

The Chelsea sacking happened about 20 minutes before I posted.

I came just two days after Rosenior stated:

Rosenior feels '100%' support from Chelsea owners
    https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cvg4jm0npmpo

  17. Ya gotta think there was some lesser figure like a year or two salary paid to make Rosenior go away.

    Oh wait!
    It's Chelsea.
    Never mind.

Not so sure about Chelsea but I figured I'd watch the NYCFC vs Cincinnati match until I realized it was being played on a baseball field so I switched to RBNY and Michael Bradly vs Sean John and DC United (Dax on color)

After Sean John got scored upon I switched to Charlotte v Orlando and Orlando buried a nice outside the foot curler which if it stands drops Charlotte to 4th place so that's good I think?

If not, let me know what you want the title to be

Thanks, I just turned it on in the background while I am working.

Luiz Diaz wins Bayern a penalty for Harry Kane to take.

  25. It's a track meet in Paris. Pundits expected a midfield struggle, but the midfield is fly over, run through territory.
