Hardly any team has the luxury of having Camavinga if Tchouameni is injured without much drop in quality. If both are injured at the same time, it's bad luck. Does City with all their oil money have any quality DM if Rodri is out let alone a 3rd one if back up gets injured too. Some here have obnoxious expectations about midfield depth. Yea, Modric is close to 40 and that's why we signed Arda in his own words. He won't become a better player sitting on the bench. Most can see Arda is talented. Club will develop some players into starters like what happened with Fede, Vini though some want readymade signings as if next Kroos is out there waiting. Camavinga himself did his job as depth option for 3 years and now should be considered for starting spot when healthy.
Güler was marketed as a RW, however, he, like Brahim, counted towards our midfield since last season. So no new additions. My point: we went into the season with a thin squad knowing full well this was a long and hard season.
Guler wasn't available for majority of last season. Even when healthy, he was behind Brahim who was already a back up. Guler will have more minutes this season which is what club intended rather than bit part role of last season. Flaw with your logic is you don't count on talented players waiting for a bigger role while complaining we didn't add brand new toy. Our midfield depth is more than fine and 4 injuries at the same time isn't the norm no matter the schedule. Take 4 midfielders out of any squad in Europe you rave about and show what kind of starting XI they come up with while RM had Fede, Modric, Guler in that situation.
Our squad isn't thin. With everyone fully fit, we have the below on the bench. Endrick Guler Brahim Modric Camavinga Ceballos Lucas Fran Garcia Alaba Vallejo Lunin
Just a random thought guys. If Xabi wasn't available, would you be fine with Davide Ancelotti taking over from his pops once he retires?
Brahim is a key player,he brings something different, his dribling and creativity is special ,3 months out is just horrible we are stuck with 3 left wingers Arda will get all the minutes but men this is just bad news after bad news this season
We have one of the most stacked midfield in recent times and people are still complaining about the board not bringing in more midfielders. Crazy
🚨 JUST IN: Jude Bellingham, Tchouaméni, and Fede Valverde will be the midfield tomorrow. @jfelixdiaz pic.twitter.com/iTwpWwDR3X— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) September 16, 2024 🚨 Ancelotti: "Militão will be available for tomorrow, 100%." pic.twitter.com/RfnkmNAvCv— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) September 16, 2024
Arda getting all of the Brahim minutes will be fun and probably better in the long term interest of the club. I want all the Guler I can get. It sucks losing another dynamic option off the bench, but Brahim’s injury is hardly a big problem for the club. We’ve got the depth in the midfield and attacking lines. An injury in the back line would be much more problematic.
Do you think Carlo and/Or our players thinking and discussing about Barcelona opening of the season? Their goals, performances, and 1st position ? And that other La Liga teams players are playing against us like it’s a final game and against them not ?

I’m assuming this was prior to the game where he was brought off at half time! It’s crazy to think that Tibo had an absolutely appalling start to his career with us.
🚨 Carlo Ancelotti and his staff believe that the team can be much better, and are analyzing the situation. Changing the formation is a possibility. @jfelixdiaz pic.twitter.com/eR3ImXdk1V— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) September 16, 2024
These are the type of quotes that make me dream that I too could be a hard-hitting football journalist.
I bet the Madrid players spend more time talking about the new fancy places to visit rather than the Cules.
