Guler had better become that new Modric we desperately need.

    Fede probably.

Rodrygo has to put a shift in tracking back or we’re gonna F around and find out if he doesn’t.

Well, at least we have 3 CB's available, thank goodness for that....., now, on to the midfield and how the club dropped the ball re planning, some events cannot be predicted

This is exactly why it was risk to keep Modric, the "we're never gonna need him to play a full 90 minutes so as long as he can give us 15 to 30 and be a good locker room leader" role is pure fantasy. And so let's be real we were counting on Ceballos more than Modric in the "body count".

We knew that Kroos needed replacing at mininum and I bet all those people claiming a James back to Madrid was nothing more than fantasy are looking at the roster and wishing it were as easy as picking him up in a fantasy league.

Yeah, we are fvcked. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we win any major titles this year. I knew Kroos' departure would be extremely traumatic. Even more with DON FLO not signing any replacements as he only has eyes for Mbappe right now.

I'm pretty sure Carlo and his assistants are pretty pissed at him. Imagine moving from a Doblete-winning squad to this thin and injury-prone group of players.

I insist we will deeply miss Joselu as well.

Carlo is the man for the job and I believe he can fix things. He can't pull off miracles, though. Squad is thin and injuries keep popping everywhere.

I think the issue is that management has taken on a similar mentality as our fans here. We can only sign young super talents or established superstars which is costly.
There are so many players that can contribute but the mentality is not Madrid quality.

In two weeks time, we will probably have all of Jude Camavinga and Tchouameni back. Probably even sooner than that for Jude and Aurelien.

I have plenty of confidence in Guler Fede Modric (and Brahim can probably play deeper) to get 1 or 2 results. Much more confidence in them than I would have had in Raul Asencio and Vallejo.

If we can steal 3 points at Anoeta, we’re sitting pretty.

Na. Club should have been prepared for 4 midfielders getting injured. We also miss Joselu no matter those minutes aren't there with Mbappe coming in and Endrick only scored like 1 goal in 15 total minutes he got. :D

Seems like Alaba's injury is pretty dangerous. News circulating that the club is worried and cannot confirm a return date.

I wonder if Brahim could have some impact in midfield in a Di Maria like role from Carlo's la decima season. He works hard and can drive the ball forward from midfield. Guler has an excellent final pass and finish on him, I think he would be wasted further back.

The club should have just wrote off Alaba this season. Even if he recovers in Nov. or Dec, he is still gonna need a couple of months to gain full match fitness.

I'd be surprised if the club manages to recover any semblance of a player after he comes back.

To me it feels like he's checked out.

Double pivot of Modric - Valverde with Arda at the tip of the triangle i guess.

Any way, if the front three gel together we are fine.

I don't think Alaba is the kind of guy to check out, the only stuff I've heard is that he "forgot about his friends in Munich" which would hit at him being in Madrid in mind and body.

Every case is different but I do think some players actually have a case for a bad injury.

It is definately not going to be easy tonight with the in our midfield but the quality from Modric and Valverde will hopefully be enough in a double pivot with the energy and defensive shape from Valverde and brain and control of the tempo from Modric. I am also exited to hopefully see Arda as a offensive midfielder behind our 3 strikers.

I do have a hard time understanding why we haven't added another midfielder into the team but I am a bit exited to potentially watch Chema as he is quite interesting as a defensive midfielder.

As long as the front 3 are willing to work hard for the team, I think we will be fine even though Sociedad is a strong team.

I just find it mindblowing that arguably Europe’s deepest midfield is paper thin right now due to injuries. What a stroke of bad luck.

I’m more worried how Modric will perform when his legs eventually give out at the hour mark. And whos coming on if that happens.

I'd try Carva as DM and start Lucas at RB. Modric - Fede midfield is defensively challenged imo in an away fixture like Real Sociedad. Their man wing threat is Kubo who's on Mendy's side.

One of the few times he’s had anything positive to say about the club since leaving.

I can understand his frustration, you could say he was treated a bit unfairly. If he wouldn't have behaved like an ass, more people would have shown empathy.

yeah I mean you could argue the same for Ozil, but he maintained that association. This guy on the other hand came close to signing with Barca. There are players who achieved a lot less with club that will be remembered more fondly by the fans. It’s a shame, he was one of my favourites at the time. Great great player, could’ve had a better career/legacy IMO.
