Carlo will do no such thing. We all know he’d rather play Carvajal at CB and Lucas at RB instead of calling up some random Castilla/youth team player.

I hear all that you say, and some good points made, but i have a question , if we did not rely on Jacobo and Joan, and signed some player, and according to reports Toni and Eder and Tchou, and David, and Vallejo are all injured who would we be partnering him with? and this is all based on the idea we know whoever we signed would be fit too, ( case in point said same Yoro)
who thought all these players would have injuries at the same time before today, would the cry now be we should have signed 2 CB's.....
yawn, i know you think you are the smartest person out there, sort of.....

Yeah who knew there would be injuries in a season of 71 games + international duties after a season of Euro + Copa and no rest. Such a shocker.

Say we had bought a CB and he too got injured, in this case the management would have done it's job and reinforced the team in a clearly thin area – can't blame the club for carelessness.

But the reality is that the club turned a blind eye to the defense situation saying that no one convinces them besides Yoro; essentially telling Carlo to fück off when he requested "at least" 1 CB.

It's not about lack of funds or the fear of becoming the next Barcelona, even if Rudiger and Vallejo both got ACLs, the club wouldn't have bought a CB.

The fact that we’re discussing the Castilla CB’s at all is indicative of the lack of depth at the senior level. It’s an attempt at finding makeshift solutions because of the expectation that we will need bodies to plug in. I can’t remember the last time we relied on a Castilla CB.

We’ve been banging the drum all summer that it would naive to expect Militao Rudiger Alaba and Vallejo would be enough depth. Injuries are an inevitability, not an afterthought.

Tchouameni was the potential saving grace emergency turned 3rd option, but he also experienced multiple fractures last season and we lost midfield depth by losing Kroos. So it’s hardly a surprise that this option would be problematic when he gets injuries too and we need him in midfield.

Oh and Joan tore his acl before the window closed, giving us time and even more information that we lack depth.

All this being said, we can still sign Ramos or Matip in an absolute emergency. I would prefer those options to plugging in Carvajal at CB. But if the club isn’t making a move, then I hope it’s a sign that these players will return from their injuries before the international break is over.

I get what you’re saying man, but technically speaking hasn’t Jacobo been promoted to the senior side? Not saying he’s good or not good enough, he’s probably not that impressive otherwise we’d have heard about him more previously, but he’s no longer a Castilla CB unless I’m mistaken here.

He wears #31 so I don’t believe so. I believe La Liga registered players are only allowed #1-25. But I could be mistaken as well

Our current squad. Vallejo is injured btw and Rudiger is a doubt.

Someone care to share where they are getting the information on Vallejo's injury?

If Guler is out, they will barely have 11 La Liga Level players to start the game.

Endrick will be the only bench option a long with a bunch of random Castilla players that should not be near the first team. All the half decent Castilla players left at the end of the transfer window.

    True.

But then again the club isn't doing itself any favours not signing a short term CB solution.

Does this mean we'll see Carvajal at CB again?

Good job we don’t have a game this week.

We should wait and see really, some of these national team “injuries” are often niggles and things you just don’t want to play pointless games on. It’s frustrating you have these friendlies so when I hear players aren’t playing sometimes that’s a good thing.

We have another week to see where it’s realistically at. And even then there’s no point in panicking. Unless you have a Chelsea sized squad this might just be the norm.

He wasn’t called up for 3 of our 4 Liga games (Valladolid, Las Palmas, Betis) because of an injury. I haven’t seen a report that said he recovered during this international window. Perhaps he has, but I would assume he hasn’t yet if it hasn’t been reported.

In any case, hopefully we won’t have to see him on the field. Although it could be worse :D

At this point, I’d be crossing my fingers that he doesn’t need to be subbed off the pitch during a match.

Ridiculous for a club like Madrid to have a staff member declined a work permit. Pathetic.
