You’re mixing two different conversations because it suits the bit.

This thread was about Madrid legacy. What he gives Portugal now has absolutely nothing to do with what he gave Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018.

Spain U19 advanced to the Euro Final with a 3-0 win over Croatia, with a brilliant performance from Thiago Pitarch, who provided two assists.
He has 5 assists in 4 games at the U19 Euros.

There's a "player" in him, if he just improves in a couple of areas and keeps things simple when he's under pressure on the ball.

Everything Khedira says about football makes a lot of sense when it comes to why he'd work with Mourinho. I was reading his pitch for the director spot of the national team in 2023 and a lot of what he says makes perfect sense to me.

Some of the things i took from it:

The first/senior team is not a test pool for young players, this isn't a casting show. That's what the U21/Youth teams are there for. If you play, you have to be ready day 1.

A team needs a clear hierarchy, no "everybody gets to play, everybody gets to have a voice", not every player is same.

You can prepare for success to a certain point, but also set yourself up for certain failure.

Players have to be aware that one bad play can be the one that causes a defeat. Being able to handle that makes the difference.

Pitchers and catchers reporting on Monday. Maybe it's time to start a pre-season thread.

Feels weird to see him back in the training kit, even when he was announced weeks ago

I was looking up our new doctor Alexander Crueze from Monaco, trying to see what he's about and found an interview with Niko Mihic (our main guy). He's actually a very accomplished physician. Trained in Emergency medicine (ER represent!!) at McGill and achieved great success. He seems like he's a savant, he's held many senior positions for global giants.

His international CV also includes working as a doctor for the British Royal Air Force and the American section of NATO, as well as Medical Advisor for Air France and KLM. His exceptional career also includes a period as medical advisor to the European Space Agency.

He's currently also the head of a hospital in Madrid.

This is what he had to say when they asked him what he sees as the biggest challenge in his job.

Our big challenge today is the workload. There are too many competitions, too many matches, too often. That’s not being governed properly by the organising committee. I don’t think they should let the players play two games in the space of 72 hours, because that’s a recipe for disaster. Even if they are top-level athletes, they are still human beings, not machines. They need enough rest and sleep, that’s the most important thing. That’s my main battle.

Uh oh, even if the team is struggling?, so, is he actually on the coaching team?, that statement brings to mind something i read a lot on here about Carlo and his "friends", if i remember correctly, it wasn't popular then

Pitarch saying he'd switch to Morocco if a senior callup doesn't come soon rubs me the wrong way.

    What an incredible career, wow.

Irrespective of whether he turns out to be what we need or not, the guy has gone above and beyond in life.
