This is like saying "I own a castle", and having a Lego Castle at home.

Being honest, I think most of us were unsure about Carlo when we brought him back the second time. Obviously it turned out marvelous and his legacy grew to an all-time status.

He looked just as washed as Mourinho does now when we scooped him up from Everton.

I have some hope now that Jose can have a similar revival to his managerial career. And to be fair, Prestianni aside, he was tactically quite astute when he coached against us with Benfica.

Yeah it's Mou. No one wants to coach this team, if they did, they're just in for a quick payday. It's hard to find anyone willing to pay you $15M for 4 months of work these days.

Mourinho isn't being hired because of his abilities as a coach though, he's being hired because of who he is.

A lot of people take this hire as "nobody wants to coach this team" but I don't think the club even approached anybody. Last thing we heard from Klopp directly was that nobody spoke to him about that possibility ever.

Mourinho was hired for his unlimited ability to create an environment of war around the club, he is was the perfect coach to entrench himself in the positions of the club re: Tebas and officiating, something Xabi never really looked quite comfortable doing, tying it up with stuff like "but we Really have to worry about ourselves and how we play".

Mou has done it before, and the hope is he does it again. Create a spirit of mistrust and make everything that goes wrong another "they don't want us to win" moment.

I would assume that the club looks at the team and thinks his strategy of turning the players on to this tinfoil hat stuff will work.

Definitely think there is an element of that involved. In addition I think there is hope among fans (and maybe management?) that this team needs someone with the gravitas to make difficult decisions, like getting Valdano removed, pushing out Guti, benching Iker for allegedly being a leak etc. An ’Arbeloa’ (or even Xabi) type doing those kinds of things just would not have worked. We are due a similar overhaul again and I hope Jose rises to the occasion.

We probably need a Capello more than a Mourinho right now, but I dont think there's many heavyweight coaches that can come in and build a professional united squad from the individual warring pieces we have right now. Its 100% true though that we are not hiring anybody considering football though, its all about man management.

What a god damn clown. Brining up Juanito 2 days after a locker room fight where one of his players had his skull open and was put in a wheelchair..

Juanito got banned by UEFA for 5 years and Real Madrid rescinded his contract for violent conduct, you dumb cone!

Lol so El Cono was tucked away in his quarters journaling peacefully while the whole circus unfolded?

Was the training session also unattended by him and his staff? Because every report insisted that Valverde was trying to injure Tchouameni on the pitch.

And yeah, a completely unforeseeable situation. It's not as if the exact same players had already gone at each other the previous day. Did he not see or hear about that?

And why didn't he and the players "learn" from when Rudiger slapped Carreras..

I read the entire pre-match and this guy genuinely ranks among the most brain-dead coaches we've had in years.

"I am very, very, very happy with the work of my 4 captains"

"We have a healthy dressing room"

    Bitch, please..

Last time Mourinho came he took us up another level. This time he’s going to take us down one, that’s my prediction as bleak as it sounds. I think overall it’s a terrible move by a desperate Perez who’s run out of ideas.

    Hope I’m very wrong obviously.

The thing with the Jose hiring, is that Flo Perez trusts him a lot more than the average manager.

He will have more authority to do things and have a longer leash than any other hire.

Which, based on how bad Flo has influenced certain players, that would be a good thing.

A lot of question marks regarding what will be the squad like next season and we are unlikely to have some clarity until the World Cup ends. We don't know what kind of say Mou will have regarding signings this time. He had a big say in all the signings during his first tenure except Pedro Leon whom Valdano signed without Mou being convinced. Also have to wait and see if Tcho and Fede will want to be teammates next season. Mou will want to keep both imo so will try his best to rebuild a working relationship.

Juanito is legend of the club. this one incident does not change what he has given to this club.

He also spat on a Grasshopper Club Zurich player and got a 2-year ban from UEFA.

What is he supposed to do, score the bout?

He most likely thinks he's surrounded by complete idiots.

So now we're dissing legends who have their names sung at every game?

Arbeloa said even Juanito made mistakes - that doesn't make him any less of a madridista. probably in reference to those asking to have both players kicked out of the club.

It's a shame when a lifelong player and current captain acts so indifferently towards the club. Tells you how cooked the team is.

Another captain would have called the meeting himself.

Ofc he isn't a babysitter since he's a baby himself. Terrible captain, terrible leader, forming cliques, making fun of his own players, not stepping in and sending the Castilla RB packing
