Yeah that was my point. People shit on the guy like he can't apply for legendary status from his legendary CL goals

Just as long as Arda can show the said same consistency that is required from Rodry, and show up in big games too like Rodry has already done, then the spot is up for grabs, i hope for the best for both players, they play well, helps us to win, bottom line. although in the end i don't think these two players will be competing for the same spot
Indeed, not consistent enough but I actually think he's done rather well playing on the right considering it is not his supposed favoured position

Nonsense, and Carlo pretty much proved the opposite.

The guy was simply shot to bits. Compare what Carlo said about Bale to what he said about Hazard.

Bale had a pretty great career from 2010-18. He was physically done after that due to injuries and pace was a big part of his game. Unlike Hazard, a lot of those good years were at RM contributing to multiple CLs as we signed Bale when he was 24.

Militao will start in Nacho's spot. Camavinga started in CL final as Tchouameni was injured. So Tcho gonna start by taking Kroos' spot? Would mean 4-4-2 with Tcho, Camavinga, Belligham, Fede midfield and Rodrygo, Vini up front.

That's the line up I think we'll go with too. Guys like Modric, Arda and Brahim will probably come on in the second half. Probably even Lucas. The last sub goes to Mbappe I think who'll probably come in for one of midfielders late in the game. Unless of course we're struggling in which case he'll probably be the first to come on

Assuming you're intentionally omitting Mbappé based on Carlo's words, I'm just gonna say that is the "Next Gen" midfield that we tried at the beginning of last season and quickly gave up on, not so much out of impatience but because Kroos came back into the team and was just fantastic and we couldn't drop him after that. If we're playing 4-4-2, that's the midfield combination we're most likely to see, we have to give them some chance to mesh together to see if it's a workable midfield or if there's just too little creativity in there to unlock a defense (which is my concern).

Given that we didn't actually replace the roster spot left by Kroos (by anyone who's going to play meaningful minutes), that does push me in a direction that kinda says 4-3-3 should be our standard formation, with likely the 4-4-2 for the most important games where defensive solidity is more valued. Of course you can't just switch to 4-4-2 and expect it to work effortlessly, I'm sure it's something we'd see situationally in many games throughout the season regardless.

Carlo always answers questions about where a player will play with a version of "he's going to play very well"

He is a Don. Really don’t understand why some coaches are combative and take dogs at players and think that will help anything.

Working with talents like Arda Guler and Endrick?

Ancelotti: I really enjoy working with them because they learn very quickly. They pay attention to suggestions and instructions, they want to grow and improve. It's funny that Vinicius, Rodrigo, Bellingham and Camavinga are no longer considered young players.

Ancelotti: We have a young team with a great future. It is up to them and their ability to bond together as one team and unite and build a wonderful team because in the end the winner is always the team.

    Facing Real Madrid?

Gasperini (Atalanta coach): This will be an unusual occasion for Atalanta. We are playing against the club that has won the most titles in the world. Playing a final like this for this cup against such an important club was unimaginable until recently. There is a great sense of pride.

We have the desire to go there and perform great and stick to our position against a club that is historically the strongest. It's a truly inspiring moment for everyone and all the fans. There is no doubt that it is a high point and perhaps the peak in the history of Atalanta.

It is clear that Ancelotti represents an institution all over the world. He is undoubtedly the coach who has won the most titles. He's done it with so many different clubs and he's doing amazing things at Real Madrid. He's done it before with them and he's doing it again.
