It's called elections. Under current system, nothing can be done if socios elect a corrupt president post Florentino. They didn't elect Florentino in 2000 because he pointed out the dire financial condition of the club. Main reason he won the election by slight margin was the promise to sign Figo. Fraud Calderon promised he had agreements to sign Kaka, Cesc and Robben in 2006 and socios thought he's a man of his word and elected him.

That statement there is the smoking gun; isn't he supposed to change it to ensure Real Madrid never falls apart like Barca did?
The financial guarantee has always been there though the amount I believe increased after 2012, I'm not sure. I don't think Perez is leaving without some sort of transfer of power to somebody like JAS. He's too old anyway and has been doing much day-to-day "presidenting" in the last 2 years or so..
I found it funny how they scraped off all the Real Madrid imaging, branding and people out of the TV picture, very intentional to not make it look like the NFL are guests rather than like they are the ones giving us the honor. What was mentioned positively is that the tickets moved well, compared to Germany and the UK where tickets moved slow and resellers ended up being stuck with tickets after the nfl started comping them out to fill the gaps. I believe the NFL requests a 12,5 mil. investment from the city, used to be 7 mil. Frankfurt recently said they are going to think about it because one weekend of NFL costs them as much as one month of a euro or a world cup and it generates a fraction of the revenue.

Surprised that Arbeloa's comments about Joan Martinez haven't been mentioned and discussed here. I'm trying to find the accurate translation and i'll post it here. The shockwaves began on Saturday evening, when Arbeloa took to the press conference desk, after his Castilla team beat CP Cacereño 2-0, and began to verbally dismantle his central defender -- someone who's started every league match and played 95% of all available minutes. The timing was brutal, the words were coruscating, and the impact was huge. Arbeloa, himself an international class fullback or central defender, said: "[Martínez] is a very talented young man, but he has a long way to go. To begin with, he needs to train much harder than he is now, with much more focus and intensity. "If he wants to be a Real Madrid player, he needs to understand that the demands of that position are extremely high. What he's doing now isn't enough to turn him into a first-team player and until he realizes that, he'll obviously be a good player for Castilla, but the top level is a different story. "We're working on making him understand that he has to be professional and train at his maximum every day. That's where he needs to make a big leap forward to become a Real Madrid player, because he has the talent, the technique, the physical conditions and the mentality ... but what he's doing right now just isn't sufficient." Arbeloa slams Martínez: Trouble brewing in Madrid's academy? - ESPN The article is worth a quick read, the author is insinuating other interesting stuff too like how the club is concerned about the overall debt and its ability to continue to spend on first team players and club facilities etc. I think the author is trying to sensationalize a lot here but Arbeloa's words are strong.
Posted about Arbeloa comment about Joan in Castilla thread few days back. Arbeloa has played Joan in 95% available minutes so it sounded to me like he was critical of some bad habits Joan has to correct as a young player rather than a malicious public attack.. Graham Hunter is a weird dude. He compared Alvaro Rodriguez to Messi after couple of sub appearances with RM first team. Sounds like someone who shouldn't be talking about unproven talents. Back in 2013 he assured Man City fans on Twitter that Isco is going to City and Madrid media are just selling smoke. After Isco chose RM, he went on a rant about Florentino being a bad president for RM and how Isco made a mistake. Balague also assured PL fans few years back that RM can't afford Jude and Mbappe due to renovation costs of Bernabeu. Couple of English speaking La Liga journos who likes to tell PL media and fans what they like to hear when RM are linked with players their clubs want.
Castilla lost 4 games in a row early in the season, then won 5 in a row before a bad 3-0 loss at Merida. Arbeloa comments about Joan came after recent 2-0 victory. Maybe he didn't want to be critical right after 3-0 thrashing. Overall they are doing good with joint 3rd spot right now.
Atletico a week ago announced Apollo Sports Capital have become majority shareholders. The shareholders plan to inject new capital to support the club's long-term plans , including further investment in Atlético de Madrid's teams and "major infrastructure projects." These include the development of the City of Sport, a new sports and entertainment complex next to the Riyadh Air Metropolitan Stadium. Cost of this Atletico project is expected to be 800 ME including 405 ME for 75 year lease of the land from government that was planned for Madrid's failed Olympic bid. Metropolitano recently had upgrades modernizing VIP areas, creating new skyboxes, a 360º screen etc. Metropolitano's 2017 construction cost was only 300 M as it wasn't an ambitious one like renovated RM, Spurs and Barcelona stadiums. Bernabeu's renovation cost so far is estimated to be around 1.76 bn. Real Madrid in May this year announced the launch of Madrid innovation district project. It's set in Valdebebas so there won't be land acquiring cost like with Atleti project, but given Florentino's track record, it's likely to be way more ambitious than Atleti's and could cost more than a billion. Club will either have to sell minority shares or take a big loan to fund this project. There's also Bernabeu neighborhood redevelopment project. Surprised RM hasn't sold naming rights of the stadium yet but that is likely to happen as Barca already did it and both clubs tend to copy each other commercially. https://palco23.mundodeportivo.com/...ondos-de-inversion-y-cede-el-control-a-apollo https://palco23.mundodeportivo.com/...onstruir-el-nuevo-hotel-de-atletico-de-madrid https://www.realmadrid.com/en-US/ne...ion-del-madrid-innovation-district-14-05-2025

It's partially on him if he felt pains in the opening minutes and decided to continue because we know Ancelotti almost never takes a player off if they don't ask. There is a possibility he misses the City game.
I see nothing wrong with these comments to be honest. Arbeloa is a player that had less talents than a lot of his co players and with great work rate managed to be the starter right back for Liverpool and Real Madrid. I'm not going to dispute him when he talks about how to train properly.
Arbeloa knows what he's talking about. Go hard on the player when things are going well so that you don't break them mentally when the going gets rough. These supposed superstar CBs we've had in Jacobo and Joan are absolute non-factors in my book until they have had some topflight football. The pipeline of becoming an elite defender is far less apparent than a good attacker in my book. There will be many variables before any of these players can be considered something to truly be excited about.
