Doing some traveling this weekend so I think I’m going to miss making the game thread I’m sure the Bernabeu is going to be buzzing for these two
🚨 NEW: Aurélien Tchouaméni is now UNTOUCHABLE for Real Madrid. The board HIGHLY valued how he overcame the booing from the Bernabéu. @marca pic.twitter.com/z2oOUqEiys— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) May 26, 2025 Aurélien Tchouaméni is now UNTOUCHABLE for Real Madrid. The board HIGHLY valued how he overcame the booing from the Bernabéu. @MarcA 🚨 JUST IN: Arda Güler will play a KEY role for Real Madrid starting with the Club World Cup.He’s UNTOUCHABLE! @marca pic.twitter.com/6XUf7MISlt— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) May 26, 2025 Arda Güler will play a KEY role for Real Madrid starting with the Club World Cup. He’s UNTOUCHABLE! @MarcA Dani Ceballos’ DEPARTURE is NOT ruled out, although it’s difficult. It’s believed he will NOT be a starter and that he must decide his future. @MarcA Ferland Mendy’s departure is VERY COMPLICATED. Fran García also does NOT want to leave, but his performances haven’t satisfied the club. Both are similar cases. @MarcA
Sounds about right. I would massively question the braincells of the Board if they sold a player that has been imperious since overcoming a chorus of boos at the Bernabeu, back in January. And I don't imagine moving on Fran or Mendy will be easy...
RM Castilla 2024/2025 season review by Managing Madrid https://www.managingmadrid.com/2025/5/26/24432673/real-madrid-castilla-2024-25-season-review on Raul: “At this point, it’s no longer about what Raúl can do with Castilla - it’s about what he’s being asked to do and how many miracles he can perform.” “The fact that Castilla finished 6th is perhaps the clearest endorsement of Raúl’s quiet resilience in the dugout.” “A proven overachiever with a strong record of development - this has not been enough for unobservant fans and even reporters, and a peculiar narrative has surrounded the man who has reached two play-offs (three, if not for COVID-19), and saved the team from certain downfall, completing five successful campaign’s out of six” “Raúl González is amongst the best we have seen at Castilla, and without him - this team would be preparing for the fourth division next season.” on Chema: “ A forward-thinking defensive midfielder who can do a bit of everything to a very high standard - this has been an exceptional first professional season for Chema Andrés. He’s already surpassed the Castilla tenures of Mario Martín and Antonio Blanco before him. When Castilla were losing every game, he never hid. He dropped deep to collect the ball, drove forward to make things happen, and was always available to sweep up if it came back. He was the metronome, the balance, the presence - and frankly, the glue.” The bits about Asencio, Jacobo and Gonzalo were interesting as well.
I’m not sure how seriously to take this article because whoever wrote it just described Jacobo as ‘bulky’ but it was an interesting read nonetheless lol. Can’t believe Raul has been with Castilla for so long, it’ll be interesting to see if he’s interested in continuing to coach immediately after leaving. Fascinating about Asencio, if he was indeed that bad. Perhaps the court case which he was involved in earlier had been messing with his headspace during Castilla.
Most likely he doesn't want to be anywhere but Madrid. Not the kind of dude whose gonna run off to Leverkusen or San Sebastian, not gonna have his attention turned to Liverpool midseason when things go sideways a little bit. He's Real Madridista thru and thru. I know not everybody will be able to relate but for some people loyalty trumps money, prestige and personal accolades.
🗣️ Raul: “A new chapter in my life now begins, as a coach outside Real Madrid, and with the belief that one day I will return to the place that will always be my home.” pic.twitter.com/rVNcKrHEUf— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 27, 2025 Raul: “A new chapter in my life now begins, as a coach outside Real Madrid, and with the belief that one day I will return to the place that will always be my home.” Good luck legend! I hope you do return someday!
This is what Raul needed. Test himself outside his comfort zone. Hope Arbeloa does the same before he outgrows the Castilla
Coaching is as much about opportunity as it is about skill and knowledge. There have been quite a few promising careers going bad because of bad spots. Look at how Bordalas worked out for Valencia. Bring successful at what he does there got him sacked.
Reports that in September 2023 he had an agreement with Villareal but they couldn't get the right contract in terms of years together. In December 2023 Union Berlin made an approach but he didn't want to jump in mid season. Think he definitely stayed for the shot at the first team after that.
Suicidal decision making if true. He's had major knee surgery and been playing with an injury for almost the whole season. Completely idiotic.
Dude, you know better than this to be more careful with your wording. You're making it sound like the club is making a decision regardless of how his recovery is going with the purpose of speeding him to this tournament. That's not what AS reported at all. They said his recovery is going better than expected and the initial 8 week prognosis might be cut to 7 weeks and he may be available for the 2nd game of the tournament. It's already been a month since the surgery.
I call bullshit on that. Nothing that happened last season gives me confidence about some kind of fantastic recovery and considering the same staff is still around, I'm going with experience rather than hope. If they say 8 weeks I believe 13 would be required.
"I call... I'm going with... I believe" Fine, speculate all you want. But don't post here saying AS is reporting your speculation.
Don't you think he may not be too good if he stayed all this time at Castilla? He's nearing 50 soon. Maybe he saw all the under 40 managers in La Liga and decided he is holding himself back?
By all accounts he did a great job this season without any reinforcements by the club for awhile now. He’s also had opportunities outside the club that he’s turned down. Pretty clear he wanted the RM manager job but with Alonso arriving he realizes it’s gonna be awhile so now is the time to give in and explore outside opportunities.
How is "his recovery is going great!" anything else but speculation, when it's looking a month ahead? I'm currently recovering from surgery and i'd laugh if anybody would make an assumption on how it would be in a month despite it being 2 months ago.
Rudiger shouldn't be rushing back for Pachuca game. If we can't beat them with Huijsen and Asencio, doesn't deserve to advance to knockouts.
