Many players have been playing injured, it has been evident for a while.

And they have the Club World Cup fairly soon, so they are basically trying to sort out their health as quickly as possible before then.

I want to see Gonzalo start but I don't think it is in the cards.

So 7 First Team players have to be on the pitch at all times? Yikes.

Don't worry, they haveve Vallejo on the bench. :D

Most of the 1st team players who start will have to play 90 minutes.

lol. My current Sunday league team should be named FC Attrition.

We had only 8 guys on Friday, desperate email goes out and we were able to get 16 players for Sunday match, everyone was complaining that we had too many subs and we had 4 get injured during the game and we could barely finish with a 1-0 win as some had to play all 90.

What’s your age range? I play in a couple leagues (40+ indoor, and 25+ outdoor) and it’s definitely a war of attrition. Especially the older league, guys just disappear for months with strains and such. It’s maddening.

You keep talking about attrition, but have you taken a look at the waistlines of the over-40 crowd? Most of them really belong with the over-50s—if you catch my drift.

To be honest it feels like the players are chickening out of appearing for the home fans.

No doubt. I’m not in that group as I stay pretty thin for my age but I can’t say the same for a lot of my teammates, lol

Over 40s, but most of the guys are in good shape. It’s the volume of stuff these dudes play in. Indoor teams and two 11v11 teams (2 games a weekend) some play with over 50s too or they play over 30s or one guy who still plays in the open division (he’s a freak athlete)

By the end of the season we’re always lucky if we can field 12 players.

    Recent Funny story;

There was a dude I played against who was from what was probably a former USSR territory. Definitely over 50.

He was so rotund, his XL kit was painted on him. Short, you’d look at him and wonder what the hell he was doing on the field.

Dude literally couldn’t run, and maybe moved a radius of 15 yard in the middle of the field. But he was pinging balls 40 yards to their wingers feet and his footwork was so smooth to get out of trouble or just craftiness you could tell he played at a high level. Scored a free kick that was incredible in the upper 90.

Apparently he played on the Romanian World Cup team in 94, at least that’s the legend from what I heard. He’s also plays in the futsal league and is unbelievable.

As much as fitness comes into play, there is a lot to be said about genuine talent.

99,9% of the football players are terrible people and not someone you should have as an idol.
I see them as well-paid clowns whose sole purpose is entertain me.
I don't give a fck about the entire "social" aspect of football because football is comprised of bad people.

    Blasphemy.

Kylian Mbappe is available and his charisma and leadership transcend the physical world. His first season most goals scored record is such an inspiration for his teammates that he needs not participate in defense because they will literally run through brick walls for him and would rather die on the field than suffer the bitter taste of defeat.

Not sure if this has been posted but I have read the club are not doing the usual pre-season USA tour this season, with the CWC taking place.

The club will play a few domestic friendlies in Spain before the season starts August 15th

    Good news

BREAKING: Ferland Mendy suffers from a CHRONIC injury.

Real Madrid believe it will be very hard to EVER rely on him regularly. @Rodra10_97

"Breaking news" is that a player has a long term injury and so much time has now passed it is diagnosed as chronic.

It makes sense that maybe Carlo only lobbied for Mendy to get a contract renewal because he knew about his medical condition and good guy Carlo wanted to see the club be charitable like with Carvajal. Of course he might have been told the club was waiting on Davies to run down his contract and come on a "free" transfer and the club would not pay to bring any other LB.
