Will be interesting to read into the past. Clearly some political games being played to force the publication of the report. What is the link with current global politics and the isolation of Qatar geopolitically? Hmmm.... The site Football leaks was quiet on this one and have not really posted anything for 6 months. What's next?

Well, Blatter is still spinning the tale his way. A quote from the article you can find here:
    http://www.goal.com/en/news/14552/w...ory-will-exonerate-victim-fifa-blatter-claims

"On the 27th of May 2015, everyone said FIFA is a 'Mafioso' organisation. In the aftermath [of my resignation], they have said that FIFA is a victim."

Asked to clarify who said that, Blatter stated: "The American Justice Department. You can ask them. They have said it: 'FIFA is a victim.'

"The members of FIFA who have been arrested or are in trouble with the US authorities are… because of activities within their own confederations, not as members of FIFA. South Americans, North Americans, now someone from Asia. All their activities are connected to their own confederations. So this is not a FIFA-gate. This is a confederation-gate.

"It's not easy to change the attitude of the international media. They are still in the mood to portray FIFA as corrupt and Sepp Blatter as the leader of all this. But history will show that FIFA was not corrupt. Not the organisation."

And totally ignored (and was allowed to ignore?) why he was banned for 8 years? Sad part is I bet most of the members feel the same way.

Surprised this took a week to make it here (or is there another thread on this?)

    Article in NYT: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/13/...click&contentCollection=Soccer&pgtype=article

Basically Jos eph Weiler who was brought in to help with ethics reform and resigned in May from FIFA governance committee, has filed an ethics complaint against FIFA's top leadership. It also points to Miguel Madura's testimony to a British parliamentary hearing on the same issue.

The last quote from Weiler is the best: "In light of my experience on the governance committee, I have very serious doubts about FIFA's ability to reform under its current leadership."

FIFA now sets the standards for the future of its governance. If you happen to be against whomever is at top of the organization, you get banned by FIFA from taking part at all possible level in its administration.

At least that's what they did to the one man whom was oposed to Infantino and the current leaders of Concacaf, Mr. Gordon Derrick (current head of the CFU), whom got the nerve of acusing them all, of lots of wrongdoing, including the usage of an undemocratic form in order to get elected as head of the organization in Concacaf, disallowing whomever presented themselves against them.

Now he got banned by FIFA for 6 years, after being acused and put charges on him on preciselly what he has been acusing FIFA's head authorities, of doing.

(Political earthquake about to happen, on what will be left of the former CFU members.....)

....oh and btw, Mr Montagliani, current "president" of Concacaf , now happens that he will be in charge of next WC ticketing, for FIFA.....

yepp! he obviously screwed up quite a lot:

Valcke is serving a 10-year ban from football after he was found guilty by FIFA’s former ethics judge Hans-Joachim Eckert of misconduct over the sale of World Cup tickets, abuse of travel expenses, attempting to sell TV rights below their market value and destruction of evidence.

he has already been fired once, back in 2006 but blatter himself got him back, they all needed each other to cover up what they were doing!

FIFA ends secret voting with promise to publish who votes for whom for 2026 World Cup

Good move on the public vote. As for this:
I believe it when I see it.

What will be the definition of human rights? Non-discriminatory manner?

Always at the trailing edge when it comes to investigations, FIFA have banned Rafael Esquivel and Julio Rocha, two of the crooks who pleaded guilty to fraud way back in May 2015. I guess FIFA must have a bit of a backlog of cases.

Also they've banned Richard Lai, who was on FIFA's audit and compliance committee, for accepting about $1m in bribes. That's just never going to stop being funny.

FIFA's brand so 'toxic' they are having trouble getting sponsors for the 2018 World Cup.

"It's not surprising it's been and still is a toxic brand," Nally said. "Unless you are from China or somewhere like that, where the fact that FIFA is in court in New York and associated with corruption doesn't matter, no corporation is going to consider it safe to get involved with FIFA." [Nally is a sports sponsorship exec who helped set up FIFA's first international marketing program.]

Not going to get any easier for 2022. I mean the alcohol sponsors will be out as will anyone who cares about gay rights.

Well European lawmakers just published a report that was pretty damning of Infantino.... here's two excerpts:

    First one:
The FIFA and IOC ethics panels, which can ban top sports officials, were both criticized for now lacking independence.

“The failures are systemic and call for a major overhaul of sports governance structures and practices,” Danish lawmaker Mogens Jensen wrote in a 24-page study of sports in general.
    and:
However, Brasseur met Infantino and FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura in Zurich in October, and noted a reform commitment post-Blatter to separate executive powers from the presidential office appeared not to have made any real progress.

“Furthermore, in the three hours that the meeting lasted it was very much Mr. Infantino who was in charge, so I find it impossible to believe he is not at the helm concerning not only the macro but also the micro-management,” Brasseur wrote.

In contrast, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin was described as “far from being an all-powerful figure who can decide on everything.”

Brasseur said it was “regrettable” and “a bad signal” that four key outsiders appointed to FIFA — its ethics prosecutor and ethics judge, plus audit and governance overseers — left within a year of each other after clashing with Infantino.

Not a good report for Gianni there. FIFA downplayed it as being personal opinions and having expected a 'better balanced and more objective' report. FIFA, you need to get your act together.

Glad they are shedding light on the issues though! Certainly better than current FIFA Ethics Committee is doing.

Wow !! I bet the sponsors are paying attention to this. Weren't the sponsors supposed to be a part of a supervisory group over the reforms? I wonder what even happened to that... Governing transnational sporting groups is an interesting problem - it's been pretty clear that they are not very good at governing themselves.

FIFA is being criticized for not contacting Dr. Grigory Rodchenkov who is the former director of Russia's Anti Doping lab and one of the whistleblowers of the state sponsored Russian olympic doping program. Grigory is in a protection program in the US and has stated he has information on Russian football doping program.

If you haven't watched it yet, check out the documentary Icarus on Netflix where an amateur cyclist / aspiring movie maker stumbles on this whole scandal trying to make a documentary about how you can still easily use PEDs and get away with it. He somehow gets connected to Grigory right before the scandal breaks out. This Mutko guy used to be sports director during the Sochi Olympics and after the whole urine sample manipulation scandal, he actually got promoted to Prime Minister and is involved with the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

FIFA says they have tried to contact him but haven't gotten a response. Which is BS. Just like the IOC trying to let it all blow over when presented with irrefutable proof until now that they just can't ignore it anymore.

Austrian corruption prosecutors are investigating transactions between FIFA, the world soccer governing body, and its Austrian counterpart OFB, a spokeswoman for the prosecutors said on Wednesday

“We are investigating the accusation that OFB officials demanded $100,000 from FIFA officials with regard to the election of the FIFA president. The money was supposed to go to an African soccer academy,” the spokeswoman said.
