In a world where 16 year olds know how to beat an offside trap. I know, I know, it's ridiculous and I was never a world class player but 16 year old me had enough speed and finishing that I could have scored some of those chances that were falling to Mbappe. It's sad but he may already be washed up. I'm not sure he can "re-learn" how to be a footballer and unlearn all the bad habits he picked up in Paris.
Mbappe is going through a rough patch. No doubt. But until Endrick delivers at the World Cup and some of the CL matches, it’s not even the same level that Endrick could sniff at right now.
No one is asking that. At least not me. But if Mbappe is stinking up the field for 70 minutes, don't you think we can give Endrick the other 20 to see what he can do?
In a sane world. Pardon me if I expect a little bit too much from a centi-millionaire footballer but if he stinks it up on the pitch I'd prefer the other guy to have a chance to show what he can do.
I cannot say about what the other posters were saying. I was not talking about Endrick starting over Mbappe. I was talking about him not having a single minute in the last 4 games.
This will be a season filled with tension, insecurity, and pressure. No way in hell Carlo plays the youngsters. I expect very conservative substitutions and zero use of our cantera.
Which is sensible, no way do we burn out Guler and Endrick. We'll keep them in shallow water at the kiddy pool and that's perfectly fine. Step by step.
This dove tails neatly with the metaphor I've been using when talking about "is [academy player] ready?" and my answer has generally been "you don't know if someone's ready until you throw them in the deep end and tell them to swim". If you deem someone not ready, it's very easy to allow circumstances to ensure that player will never be ready at all. Self-fulfilling prophecies and shit.
There's a difference between protecting the youngsters where you give them minutes and opportunities in games that allow them to build confidence and what in my opinion is Carlo's greatest weakness, which is straight up icing young players out of the squad.
He’s always been this way. I don’t know why we’d expect otherwise. Camavinga is still fighting for a starting 11 position. That is more insane to me than Guler or Endrick not getting a few scraps of minutes.
Yup, you can always come up with an excuse for why the time isn't right, but if you can't trust them with a few minutes every now and then, then maybe they don't belong here. This is more for Arda than Endrick, but applies to both. Arda has impressed and apparently Carlo likes him, plus he plays in a position of weakness for us. This is not new for Carlo, the last time he trusted a young player over a more established one was probably Kaka over Rui Costa lol.
I'd like the youngsters to play more often if the league is over by December or January. At least make the league useful for something.
What are you talking about ?? Camavinga fighting for what? He was a starter the whole 23/24 season, even played at LB, he was recently injured, that's why he hasn't played this season
