Ok if you ask anyone who are the favorites to win the next World Cup, everyone will answer Brazil (the only left superpower of football) and Germany (the traditional hosts). But besides them what do you consider to be the most favored national to win WC2006?

Portugal and Holland, for all their talent, are too erratic. I think France had the real golden generation and they have left the stage. I would narrow it down to England and Argentina from your choices, with a slight edge to Argentina due to IMHO their ability to better handle Brazil or Germany should they meet.

Argentina. And not because I like them. They have too much talent, and if they manage to fire on all cylinders, they are like a machine. England and Italy are both too schizoprenic to win.

Well, Italy should definitely be on the poll. They are one of the 7 serious contenders.

If they were a top contender I would have remembered them when I made the poll.

I've also deliberately excluded Spain from the poll. They are a good team, but professional chokers when it comes to the big tournaments.

Italy and Spain aren't favorites anymore. They choke at every tournament.

The way France has been going, I would be hard pressed to put them as favorites also.

And with Holland having oodles of talent the last 30 odd years, I'd consider them chokers too for not having won at least 2 world cups.

Italy came within 30 seconds of winning Europe 4 years ago, and they are "chokers", yet England and Holland are somehow not?

I voted for Holland. No idea why, maybe I'm just in a masochist mood today. But I have this eery feeling that it'll be 1988 all over again... Germany love being beaten on home soil by their biggest rivals (no I don't mean England here in case anyone asks, we don't consider them as rivals).

Apart from that, Holland have the most talented players and if they manage to get their act together as a team, they should do very well.

First of all Im a Brasil fan and im mad that Italy is not on that list

How the hell do u keep them out and Spain too .... when was the last time Holland and Portugal won the world cup NEVER and England since 66 ... everyone knows France is done as if they ever started and u put them up there and u call Italy chokers when they have the second most talented team in the world

Shows how much u know about football ;)

By your reasoning, why the hell should Spain be included then? They've never won the WC either. Why not include Greece then? They won the Euro just a few months ago, I'm outraged they're not on the list.

Are you joking or are you being serious?

I think apart from Brazil, who are clear favourites, England and Portugal will be co-favoutites.

Spain, Italy, France, Netherlands, and also, Germany, have the ability to do well.

The question is too early now.
I think for instance France might as well won't qualify them to wc 2006 ...
