In light of the 40th anniversary of the first appearance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show (Feb 9, 1964), i was wondering...what where the football supporting preferences of the Beatles?

Is it true that once they became international super-stars, the Beatles more or less turned their back on the city of Liverpool?

I'm a huge Beatles fan and i'm not quite sure that i've heard them mention what, if any teams they support.
John Lennon mentions Matt Busby at the end of "Dig It" when the song is fadding out.
There is also a photo of the Beatles towards their latter period with Paul wearing a Liverpool FC ribbon.
