I just received a phone call and was asked to pass this along.... Keep in mind, I haven't heard this from Jimmy, (owner of The Exchange), yet as he is out of town until Thursday. So until I receive confirmation on this deal, please regard this as rumor. DCU and The Exchange are working on a deal for all of the away games to be shown there. Also, when possible, one player who is not in the game that night, will be "Guest" Bartender. Hopefully I will have more details to share by Saturday. So now you all know where Dave Brother and I will be this Friday evening......Anyone else recuperated enough from last Friday yet? Mrs. Dave Brother
I can confirm some DCU staffers had a VERY good meeting there last Friday. Stay tuned for further developments... K
1719 G Street NW Washington DC http://www.theexchangesaloon.com Good place. We had the November Happy Hour there and they really took care of us...Those gratis Lemon Drops were quite nice.
I still haven't decided which I liked best, the complimentary Lemon Drops or the 2 hour extention of Happy Hour prices...
From the Exchange web site: "Known as Washington, DC's oldest saloon, founded in 1973..." WTF? Did Nixon shut down all the bars? Can any of you natives explain this? Not that I wouldn't travel there to see a game or two...
Well I know that the Tombs in Georgetown has been continuously operating same location since 1963. (I worked there, so I cheated) Plus the Old Ebbitt Grill and Red Robin Bar @ The Williard have existed in name since the 1850's. So I'm not really sure.
last year Georgetown Station or something like that on M street through a pretty good away game party for the DCu vs. Columbus game..me and 3 friends went and you got the game and all you could drink Bud Light's for $10....what a deal! I'd be up for the Exchange for away games sounds like a good idea.
This is glorious news. I hope all the away games are shown somewhere. Of course, I'll be springing for MLS Shootout again this year...so I figure I can watch them at home if they won't be shown else...
Probably because most other places call themselves 'bars' or 'nightclubs' or other more modern names.
