Yeah, this is just down the road from me.

Of course, now we're worrying about keeping the lights on in the future. :(

The thing we need to be doing is moving towards electric vehicles and making their capacity part of the overall energy structure.

I see Shell are planning a roll-out of re-charging points at all their petrol forecourts in the future...

Hopefully all the others will be doing the same thing.

Meanwhile Germany and the USA still get 40%+ of our energy by burning coal.

That's pretty amazing, isn't it. The reduction in nuclear has been a factor with the Germans, I'm guessing.

So you're saying that German comedians, legendary across the face of the globe as being the most efficient humorous in the world, are better ours, eh?!

Yes. They are better. You and the rest of the world cant know since you dont speak German. You somehow managed to avoid having to learn it...

When you say I 'somehow managed to avoid having to learn it', this should provide a clue as to the method we employed...

Strictly speaking he's Scottish. I'm not sure if we're including them on our 'side' but, assuming we mean nation states at the UN he'd have to be.

And it's your disadvantage until this day you're missing out on all those fantastic comics! Germany even has a complete branch of comedy that doesnt even exist in the UK: political cabaret.

Er.... OK! I love me some comedy so I'll check it out. :)

Edit: Here's some according to youtube...

Hmm..., yeah. It's very 'political' but it seems to lack a certain something. There's a missing element there which I can't put my finger on... something the audience should be doing? Possibly?

Oh, that's right... yeah... laughing. Yeah, that's it. That missing ingredient. The 'X' factor as it's sometimes called. Nobody's laughing.

So you've taken comedy and, with typical Teutonic efficiency, extracted all the erroneous, unwanted parts like... well, humour!

Also, can I just out that it's essentially just stand-up, but sitting next to a piano. I'm not sure that really counts as a separate branch of comedy, does it?!

Look, comedy is very much 'our thang', OK!? It's what we're good at.

That fun-loving mad-cap view of the world we have... that quirky, sideways aspects of our collective British consciousness... that's our finest thing.

Now, granted, it's something of a crimp when we apply it to things like assembling cars, TV's and fridges but, HEY! You play the hand you're dealt... AMIRITE?! :)

That's a, not political cabaret and b, if it was you conveniently delivered proof you havent been exposed to it enough to understand it. ;)

We are exporting comics to your shores, you arent exporting yours to us. Ergo, we're funnier. End of story. Oder?

OK! Let's test our comic 'capabilities', shall we. How can this sketch be improved?

    Hint: It's a trick question ;)

The "philosophers game" was recorded in 1860s stadium in Munich. We know about the good stuff.

History will repeat itself with this comedy summit thingy with Brits not competing like in Fifa world cups at the beginnng cause they are the best anyways having invented being funny n stuff and the rest of the world will move the game forward to its current state of England being left behind in world football ... uh ... I mean comedy.

Another winning post, successfully proving your point... HURRAH! :)

BTW we're still waiting for the proof positive about 'political cabaret'. I'm guessing you have a team of German scientists, working around the clock to put it together, right? ;)

I, for one, am convinced you're correct.

I mean, music, (if political cabaret includes that element), made 'Oklohoma' and 'Seven Brides For Seven Brothers' vastly superior artistic products to all those films without music like 'The Godfather' and 'Apocalypse Now'.

Yep! That's the one thing they lacked IMO :)
