Alarm at 'EU Pentagon' plan The European Union is drawing up plans for a "Euro-Pentagon" in Brussels commanded by a defence chief able to launch military operations anywhere in the world. Not bad, Americans have always said that the EU should be more pro-active, and not just a talking shop in international matters. By the way, the telegraph is very right-wing, which will explain any bias against this.
...but seriously folks. Doesn't this challenge the W Doctrine of global pre-eminence? In their Hobbesian world this should not be tolerated. OTOH, one of the major contradictions of capitalism is unfolding in China. There, it's ok if they become a regional power and then who knows how big b/c of the enticing market available.
