I saw this today- Considering all of the debates about an alternative network, what value would you place simply being on ESPN? Is it a "brand" of value to a degree that you would turn down a modest TV deal with from another group-the Spanish television negotiations that Garber recently spoke about come to mind-in order to maintain your profile there, even on a time-buy basis? I'm a bit outside that 18-34 group, so perhaps younger posters might chime in-espcially those in college.
MLS needs to be on ESPN. Far more exposure than they can get anywhere else. They just need to convince ESPN to spend a bit more time and money promoting the league. I've only got 3 more months left in that valuable 18-34 age group. Then what happens - does everyone forget about me. I still haven't made my mind up about so many products.
You obviously missed the more scintillating points made on the "MLS Should Be Broadcast on Citizen Band Radio Wavelengths So More Truck Drivers Can Become Fans" thread from last month.
As someone in that age group I have to say that I pretty much watch all of my sports on ESPN. ESPN is the voice of sports in this country. To be on Sportscenter is the best way to showcase a sport and by MLS being on ESPN already they have an in. I realize that it hasn't happened that much, but ESPN when there is a buzz around soccer ESPN puts it Sportscenter (case in point: WC2002).
