Greetings fellow forest fans thought i would drop you all a line i will be coming on forest's pre season tour and i never actually knew that there was so many forest fans in the states. It would be really good if any of you are going to the matches that we could meet up. I was reading a D.C united message board and they was saying how they can out sing any of the fans that the teams over there have, well as i have said in the title "the english are coming" then we will see who can out sing who.
I've never seen an MLS game that had singing nearly as loud or coordinated as what I've heard on EPL or other British and European broadcasts. But then, that was TV-- so who knows how accurate the sounds actually were.
Yes, the English are coming, but never seem to make it to Texas. The singing and chating at MLS games are well put together, but only the supporters groups are doing them. A few hundred or so does not a Trent End make. For an exhibition match, the only people there will be the supporters groups and a few forest fans. Though this might be an interesting friendly in Europe, considering Forest's glorious past, these matches are not advertised and do not spark much interest in the United States. Forest will be paying in front of a few hundred in cavernous RFK stadium. Well, 54,000 seats is a very small stadium by American standards. At a US National Team game, though, things are far different. Roughly 1,000 American supporters drowned out 45,000 Mexicans in the Cotton Bowl last Wednesday. For those of you who have not followed this intense little border war that the US is dominating, 1-0, Pope in injury time in the second half.
So your saying all that will be there are the fuddy duddies. Well we'll still give them a burst of "i was born under a trent end goal" and "Joe Kinnear is magic he wears a magic hat" and the all time favourite "we all agree Nottingham forest are magic" and i'm sure there will be the odd "In-ger-land - In-ger-land"
Your info is wrong, Be assured that Forest will have over 1,000 brits at the game, mostly Forest fans but many British team fans will be their, 3 Stoke, 2 Portsmouth & 2 Man United travelling down with my party from little old Rhode Island. Come On You REDS
Maybe we'll see you there then u.s red, i'll be the one with the 15ftx8ft st George flag. I know that on dc united's web site it says no large flags but it will be interesting to see them try and stop me getting in, after all flags are now a big part of the game so maybe dc should catch up with the rest of the world
I can hardly wait for Forest's US tour. I'm also heading down from Rhode Island to see the whole tour. Hopefully the tour will kick off a better season. With County being continually in the dumps a merger might be a regrettable necessity. Hopefully not but a return to the Clough-esq heights of the champions league and fa cups will be one day coming.
Istead of being an a$$hole, why don't you contact DCU management directly and see if you can accomodate your flag. The DCU supporters (and most other MLS teams) have their own large flags by the way - guess you never watch MLS games. When Blackburn came last year, they got a section of their own to sit in and it was impressive to see them all in blue and white. Attendance was ~9500. I wouldn't expect that many since the Godlike presence of Brad Friedel will not be there.
No to$$er your right i don't watch MLS games because to be frank anything you yanks do bores me tears.
too bad we don't have 100 Croatians to keep you quiet whole game like few weeks ago Just kidding. Hope a lot come
Looking forward to it. Hopefully English that live in US will eventually stick with local MLS team too (guess I shouldn't talk since it took me 8 years to do so, but every home and away game being a 5000 mile trip it kinda makes you do it)
Sure, bring your flag in. Certainly soccer culture in the States isn't as big as it is in in England/Europe - but the supporters here make up for it with enthusiasm. Also, once you're done watching Nottigham being beaten in the stadium, you can stroll to South East DC. You'll have fun there. It makes Brixton look like a playground.
Actually 13,333 showed up for a very enjoyable evening. Thanks for coming, Forest. Best to you in the coming season.
And to the Forest supporters that came: You made a good show of it, despite being outnumbered (and outflanked). Good luck in Richmond and Virginia Beach. (And be thankful for the break in the weather last night. It's forecast for the week; 85 with a bit of breeze and no thunderstorms is the best you can ask for during a mid-Atlantic summer.)
I never do mind an MLS team beating a forign team, I do with it was not my beloved Forest. Nothing to worry about, it was just a friendly. In Dallas, it was a comfortable 105 today, that is about 43 C. Forest should come here. Actually, Aresenal should come here, play at noon. Watch those French guys melt. Last Saturday, I wore my Forest jersey, and endured all the insults of the Gooners, while fingering the two silver stars on my sleeve. Past glory, yess, but there is a hell of a lot of it. And with Joe bringing back that Super Reds Magic, there is more to come.
