I’m not even sure it is a mental block. Feels like they can’t even get motivated for the intensity of the game. How do you get caught cold again at the start of a game like this?

Yeah and I would also question the tactics, Ford and Mitchell pumping the ball up in the air when the Scottish backs caught everything just seemed so one dimensional but we kept on doing it until midway through the second half when we kept the ball in hand and actually looked better but was too little too late. Borthwicks tactics need to be scrutinised imo.

I agree he got it wrong tactically but I feel by far it wasn’t the worst failing. The start and lack of intensity is just bizarre and the errors and decision making completely ruined us. We might have won if Ford didn’t go for the drop goal. Didn’t look on to make that play at all. Really poor from an experienced player.

Doing dreadful so far in tne cricket.

Are we at the end of Butler’s time playing for the team? As well as Brook as captoaj and McCullum as captain of course.

When you wrote this I hadn’t had time to check on the cricket as working so I presumed we were 100 all out or something. Just checked now and we’re over 200 runs! Lol

Which Italy were not too far from matching. Would have been one of the biggest upset’s of all time.

If I was the ECB I would be thinking someone else might have to succeed Stokes as test captain because Brook’s reputation is pretty low now

The only thing keeping this England cricket team afloat is fireburn’s in-game posts.

On a serious note this team still looks way out of sync after four games. Tough to be too hopeful in the next phase.

You end up saying this to yourself after every ICC event but what an awful format. Feels like this tournament will never end going into the next phase. Where is the excitement in that?

Australia need a lot of things to go their way to stay in the T20 World Cup.

They needed Ireland to win to have an outside chance.

First time I’m watching the U20’s in the six Nations against Ireland. Pretty terrible from what I’m seeing so far, like watching the seniors from last week, just littered with errors and being beaten up by Ireland in every department. Very disappointing.

The mentality of english sportsmen under pressure is shite. Whenever a team turns up the pressure we fold. We do not like it if the game isn't on our terms and we don't go to the trenches we give up.

It's in the youth teams and it's in the senior teams in different sports.

    We're gutless under pressure.

Yeah quite possibly but it’s just from a tactical point of view that we seem to be awful. We have a plan A to boss them up front and then just give it to our scrum half who just kicks the ball away to the opposition backs who like Scotland last week, Ireland tonight were very good ball in hand so we just give them the opportunity’s constantly. Just bizarre management, it’s like our backs just can’t play with ball in hand or we have zero confidence that our forwards can go through phrases. The management needs looking into imo, zero creativity whatsoever and when we are forced into playing ball in hand like the last 5 minutes we actually looked threatening. I just don’t get it!

They didn't look great in their opening two games (against Wales and Scotland) despite winning both. Apparently it's a weaker U20 crop than the last couple of years.

The scrum-half (Lucas Friday from Quins) is actually one of the better prospects though!

First 2 minutes of this game, we had decent attacking positions and Ford tries to kick on two occasions. Think I already know the game plan for this game!

Ford is making too many kicking errors already. Feels like that has been the main issue of the tournament so far.

Surely Finn Smith will come in soon if he’s form doesn’t pick up. He just kicks way too much for me in good positions.
