Good news, Fin Smith targets leading England to 2027 World Cup after ignoring lure of R360 to sign new Northampton deal https://t.co/WBntTNUm5o— Daily Mail Sport (@MailSport) October 4, 2025
Everything i've read about the R360 is just massive red flags, I don't see it ever really getting off the ground. The entire business model is bizarre, a initial 6 team league spanning the globe, where the players don't even need to stay in the country their team is in, is just a expensive exhibition league. And most the team cities they announced aren't in countries where Rugby is a thing.
Maybe you need to relax on believing everything you read in the rags, it’s so often fabricated nonsense unless you see it from an official source.
You could almost see Mike Tindall going down the same rabbit hole as Michael Johnson who tried something kind of similar with a new athletics ( Grand Prix ) events which went very bad and left Johnson with being sued by athletes due to investors not following up with their promise of funding.
Lewis Moody, 🏴 World Cup winner, confirms awful news he has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease. https://t.co/3SniCyGVu8— Alex Bywater (@_AlexBywater) October 6, 2025 Such horrible news to hear this morning.
South Africa made a massive improvement and comfortably beat New Zealand - New Zealand are the current T20 champs.
🚨 Breaking: Multi-union statement signed by New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, England, Scotland, France and Italy.'Each of the national unions will be advising men’s and women’s players participation in R360 would make them ineligible for international selection.'— Alex Bywater (@_AlexBywater) October 7, 2025
It's in the replies that they support the statement but are working on revising their qualification rules before committing. "As we continue to analyse and understand the proposals, we reserve the right not to select men's and women's players for international duty if they participate in this competition." Argentina are the big missing team.
Wales are probably in part waiting to see how many join. Louis Rees-Zammit has apparently agreed and Jac Morgan sounds like he might have as well. I’ve seen suggestions they could well lose a lot of players. Not sure why Argentina haven’t signed it. Might be as simple as they don’t care where their players are and have been persuaded it will be good for Rugby. Rugby League squad for the Ashes against Australia: I used to watch Rugby League quite a lot back when living in England but sort of lost track since living abroad but many don’t seem happy with this squad! John Bateman (North Queensland Cowboys) AJ Brimson (Gold Coast Titans) Joe Burgess (Hull KR) Daryl Clark (St Helens) Herbie Farnworth (Dolphins) Ethan Havard (Wigan Warriors) Morgan Knowles (St Helens) Matty Lees (St Helens) Mikey Lewis (Hull KR) Jez Litten (Hull KR) Mike McMeeken (Wakefield Trinity) Harry Newman (Leeds Rhinos) Mikolaj Oledzki (Leeds Rhinos) Tom Johnstone (Wakefield Trinity) Kai Pearce-Paul (Newcastle Knights) Harry Smith (Wigan Warriors) Morgan Smithies (Canberra Raiders) Owen Trout (Leigh Leopards) Alex Walmsley (St Helens) Jake Wardle (Wigan Warriors) Kallum Watkins (Leeds Rhinos) Jack Welsby (St Helens) George Williams (Warrington Wolves) Dom Young (Newcastle Knights)
I know very little but they have left out Jake Connor who won best player in the die wtic league award last week.
There's a hell of a lot of competition at stand-off. I'd imagine there'd be similar "outrage" if one of Williams, Lewis or Smith were left out.
Yeah there’s always fans not happy with selections but there seems to be a general consensus that Bateman shouldn’t be anywhere near this squad. Not seen him play for a few years so I really wouldn’t know.
I don't watch the NRL that much, so difficult for me to say either way. He was excellent in both his Wigan spells though.
If you've seen how insane Reece Walsh has been this season has been I'm concerned. Walsh looks a generational freak of nature. Katony Stags, Hetherington, Walsh, Corrigan, Mariner.. wonderful players from the broncos the aussies can count on. Not even including Nathan Cleary.
