I think it's really just down to lack of options. If you look at the top run scorers in this summer's Hundred, it's Sciver-Brunt, Knight, Capsey, Wyatt and a whole load of overseas players. I think Sophie Ecclestone was pushing the top 10 English run scorers.

I was watching one of the other games and thinking why not just open with her. She times the ball better than almost all of the team.

In their last test squad, only Cameron Green was under 30. Even if you take in all formats there's only a handful in their early to mid 20s.

And for their summer season coming up he is out injured so it might be even older.

Jacob Bethell is a surprise inclusion in the test squad for the tour of NZ. Seems like a FC batting average of 25 with zero hundreds (in any format) is no barrier to progression.
Even Warwickshire fans appear somewhat shocked.

Feel like he is the new super favourite of the selectors.

Watching England v New Zealand. We really don’t fancy our chances of scoring any tries from the backs so we? So much lacking intent to run at them which I find strange considering how well they usually do week in week out in the Prem. I know it’s a step up playing International rugby against the Kiwis but you have to back yourselves. Only way we will win this is by penalties at the current rate.

Putting Ford on after being out injured didn’t end well.

Yeah, changing the front row didn’t seem to work either. Didn’t see all of the second half due to home commitments but I just knew New Zealand would end up edging the game unfortunately. Just that mentality of getting over the line seems to be a common theme with this team similar to the senior mens football team.

England making an absolute pigs ear of this test against the Aussies. I’m really not convinced about Bothwick.

Yes borthwick is like the Southgate of rugby.. England aren’t far from being a top 3 side loads of talented younger players . If they could choose the French based players like Jack Willis and Henry arundell etc be stronger

That will never happen. The league would remove all their players if they tried to knowing such a policy would kill the league.

And they are not many likely replacements if he did have to go.

We’re just so lethargic it’s unreal! There’s just no intensity and we have no defence and no structure to it. So easy for the Aussie to break the lines. The constant churning of coaches doesn’t help this either.

Beat again that’s. Game England had to win really not a strong Aussie side. Borthwick will be under pressure after that

That’s becuase they all keeping falling out with each other.

The top four teams in the Premiership don’t have English coaches.

Heavy pressure but the RFU are skint and also now committed to an only English coaches after Jones which they are no real attractive available options.

Didn’t see the last 15 mins but seems like we choked again at the end, really bad habit we are developing. Gonna be a disaster Autumn series especially when we play the Boks next weekend which has defeat written all over it.

At least we got something going in the T20 yesterday. Highest successful run chase in Barbados, and done at a canter.

Phil Salt sure likes playing the West Indies - 10 matches, 3 centuries, 2 50s, 83 average, 187 SR.
Jacob Bethell also really grew into his innings in support.

The lineup still looks at least one batter light. Curran at 6 is way too high. The West Indies had Romeo Shepherd at 8 and his record blows Curran's out of the water.

Has Curran regressed as a bowler? Doesn’t seem to impress at much these days and gets whacked around a fair bit.

    Definitely.

    Last 4 years

    2021 - 8 games 7 wickets 6.57 ER
    2022 - 19 games 25 wickets 7.56 ER
    2023 - 11 games 8 wickets 9.15 ER
    2024 - 8 games 5 wickets 10.90 ER

As a batter, his strike rate is under 110 in the last 3 years with and average of just over 14.

Honestly I think this tour is just about finding out about options, already it clear to see someone like Bethell is up to the level and Cox isn’t, you slot Brook back in the team and the balance is infinitely better. The composition of the squad picked was wrong from the start with a ridiculous number of all rounders.
