GB finished 2nd in the Paralympics behind China. A margin ahead of the US in both golds and overall medals. A great achievement.
Yeah, they did really well, seem to always do well when it comes to the Paralympics compared to what I thought was quite disappointing with the Olympic team when it comes to gold medals but to be fair we had some rotten luck in some events I thought which was frustrating.
If you add the total golds for Olympics and Paralympics up GB have got the same in London, Tokyo and Paris but this time the balance shifted more to the Paralympics compared to Tokyo and London. Only Rio had a lot more golds. Bejing had two less in total.
There was definitely some rotten luck for many athletes though during this Olympics. From some very dodgy judging in the boxing which was ridiculous, to the archery girl hitting the clay but the judges decided she didn’t so demoted to silver, the BMX girl winning all the races prior to the final where she got blocked out at the start and finished last ( it is what it is I guess but just feels unlucky ), plus the athletics just had some really close calls when they seemed destined to win but it was snatched from them by remarkable comebacks and same for some rowing events. On another day, think we could/should have had another 4 or 5 golds imo.
Plus two swimming silvers by 0.02 and a last fence knockdown in the eventing. The controversial decision was shooting rather than archery. Archery had had a VAR equivalent at the games.
