BREAKING: Javier Hernández has confirmed that he is joining LA Galaxy. (Source: @latimes) pic.twitter.com/mM8r9rdkqe— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) January 21, 2020
Great acquisition for the Galaxy on so many levels. He's got the quality to succeed Zlatan in being the team's topscorers (and perhaps even league wide as well). Shrewd move also with the rivalry with LAFC in mind: Chicharito vs Vela. Adds another element of spice there.
They have to build a better team around him for this to work. Zlatan basically had to do it all on his own, until Cristian Pavon showed up. They also need a better defense.
Admittedly not a MLS expert so I'll definitely take your word for it. But the game in the playoffs between both sides showed that the Galaxy need more to really compete with LAFC. Not sure if they've made other moves to improve the team, but by itself getting Chicharito looks to be a good move. He still has it and it's not hard seeing him being a big hit in the States. Interesting read on what Hernandez's arrival means to MLS. https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/en-en-what-does-chicaritos-arrival-mean-for-mls
He will sell a lot of shirts. For Galaxy, the hope is to sell people on season tix. Anyway, ******** the Galaxy.

Welcome to MLS 4.0 The influx of Latin American players from Mexico, Venezuela, Paraguay, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, and Uruguay has gone up a few notches over the last couple of seasons. This year it feels a little different though. Hoping the trend continues and after the next CBA we can get teams even more money to tap into the best talent from North and South America.

Well done from our old boy, RoShaun Williams, who apparently had himself quite a game vs Pool to help his team Shrewsbury Town earn a replay at Anfield. Gary Neville on Woodward:🗣"This is going to get worse, they are taking it above the line it is not acceptable but there are a lot of fans that are frustrated and not going to accept what is happening at the club"pic.twitter.com/3k2A8a2o8i— Paul 𝕏 Manc Bald and Bred (@MufcWonItAll2) January 29, 2020 GNev's rhetoric has been refreshing and much more bearable of late. He was starting to get more and more on my nerves with lots of his comments. But he's been far more sensible recently. It's about time because I like the guy in general: like the fact that he's pretty honest, outspoken and cares about the club deeply. He got it spot on in everything he said here though.

https://www.goal.com/en/news/why-did-david-beckham-leave-manchester-united/8680hkv2z89n1ti6pbrqp0a8o Have often wondered how things would have turned out if Becks had stayed with the team longer (since he was still just 28 when he left). Was seriously bummed out when he left, even if it was probably the best for all parties concerned. That right foot of his was just magical at times.
Lee Sharpe on a Fernandes - Pogba linkup and the club's overall recent transfer business. https://www.skysports.com/football/...t-what-manchester-united-need-says-lee-sharpe Would hope that the idea of a partnership between both players would be enough for Pogs to consider at least extending his stay at the club, but train has all but left the station at this point. Should be fun though watching what might have been for a few months at least.
We've spent plenty enough to be competitive. We've spent it horribly. A DoF could have ensured that at least, we went after players that fit together. The salary dump on Sanchez and the transfer fee for Maguire alone would have been enough to pay for Sancho, Haaland and Upamecano. 3 players that would make our first XI better, would get better with time and increase in value even if they didn't turn out to be world beaters.
sure. you're assuming they'd have the proper freedom to operate. but the likelyhood of that happening is.....?
Well, if we had a DoF, they'd be in charge of the football side of things. I don't see why they wouldn't have the freedom to operate other than Ed being a numpty which is why we don't have a DoF. Ed is patently bad at the football side of things. The Sanchez contract is a fireable offense.
