The Wizards are going to win on the road with me in the stadium next Saturday in DC. It's going to happen, I can feel it.
Aside from our lack of finsihing, and an injury to one of our best players, it is possible you will take this match. That and you all are doing pretty good this season, but look out we here in DC ALWAYS have our hopes up! Those of you coming into town to enjoy the match bring some light clothing supposed to be hot this weekend. And enjoy yourselves, Barra Brava and Screaming Eagles get loud and rowdy but we are all gentle folk. Here's to a great injury free match!
Re: KC@DC Pregame thread DC 0 - 2 KC DC miss Convey more than they think. Adu starts again and does nothing again -- especially on the defensive side of the ball. KC's defense wakes up a bit and buckles down after draw with Fire. One score on a corner as KC takes advantage of lost Adu. Taylor starts again and again provides spark up front, while Davy starts in midfield and brings speed on the outside.
I've been to 4 DC games and 2 KC games in the last month and a half. I've also seen every MLS game on TV this season. KC is the better team right now. That doesn't mean they'll get three points, though.
Let's see: KC is better in net, defensively, in midfield, at forward, and on the bench. dc is winless in 5 overall and in the last 6 against KC. KC blames their own play, dc blames officials. KC is getting shots on net, dc needs a GK mistake to score. KC tied CHI, dc tied CLB. KC has more points in less games played. KC is getting along well without Preki and Igor, dc is unwatchable without Convey and Olsen healthy. What? Andy is going to be there?!? Aww, CRAP!
To be fair, that DC/CLB game wasn't nearly as close as the score would indicate. DC was clearly the better team and Columbus needed Brandon Prideaux to gift them a late PK to get out of there w/ the draw.
Should we all chip in and get his car towed that morning? I actually wouldn't mind seeing Vuk get a shot out there this Saturday. I think Zontinca's gotten a yellow almost every game he's played and should be getting close to a consecutive game caution suspension like ehemmm Dema. Can we get that broken down between with me there, and with me not there? My KC/DC record: 1997-08-31 KC at DC 0:2 1998-03-21 KC at DC 2:3 1999-06-26 KC at DC 0:3 2000-06-10 KC at DC 0:0 (45 minutes) 2001-04-07 KC at DC 2:3 (had 2-1 lead very late if I recall, Nick got red carded for a "deer in the headlights" handling in the box after Tony overran the ball, and Mark Lisi scored the goal of his life.) 2002-04-20 KC at DC 1:2 (OT 92') (freakin' Jaime Moreno) 2002-08-10 KC at DC 0:0 (Tony saved 2 of 3 PKs, Noel Kenny farewell match) 2003-04-12 DC at KC 2:3 (OT 93') (Chris Brown in OT, and I finally see the Wizards beat DC, but at Arrowhead - of course) 2003-05-17 KC at DC 1:1 (questionable PK for DC saves United) 2003-10-25 KC at DC 1:1 At RFK 0-5-4, 7 GF, 15 GA At Arrowhead 1-0-0, 3 GF, 2 GA Note to those wondering about "The Curse". The Curse isn't KC at DC. It's KC as an away team with me at the game. Not only am I 0 for 9 at RFK, I've seen the Wizards drop points in San Jose (2), Chicago, and Columbus: 1998-07-25 at SJC 1:2 (0:3 SO) 2000-06-04 at CHI 2:3 (ended our start of the season 10-0-2 unbeaten run) 2000-07-15 at CLB 2002-06-29 at SJE 1:2 (we were up 1-0 in the 85th minute, between this and the Noel Kenny game shortly after, I don't think I've ever been so sick watching soccer. I honestly and truly believed the curse was over at this game, Wade and I caught this on our way back from a month in Korea)
Is this game on TV at all? I've been travelling too much and am staying in St. Louis, but I'm getting this feeling I'm not going to be seeing this game.
The only people who will see this game will be the one's in RFK Stadium, with the possible exception of Ricardo Salazar.
Match Tracker it is! Don't you just love "analyzing" a match based on match tracker? I'm sure Dave will be able to give some insight though based on the stats. The one weekend I'm home to watch my damn MLS package and the Wizards aren't on it. URG.
There will be a DC webcast -- if you can stand to listen to the home team's broadcasters [whoever they are]. Just get the link at: http://www.matchnight.com/
KC at Black and White says the Engineering major... Anyway, beating dc isn't exactly rocket science. A team has to find a way to make Rimando either move or make a thinking decision. When Nick reacts his play is superior; the second he has to think, dc allows goals. Step one of that is to control the wings. I have little idea how that can come through on matchtracker. Preferably the scoreline will be 4-0 blue guys so no analysis will be needed. I also read that Adu likely will start on the bench. That seems to be a bad break for KC.
Re: KC at Black and White Hey man, if anyone has proven they can pull an analysis from virtually thin air it is you. I seem to recall a very long analysis of Preki's "state" when a picture of him on crutches at the practice field was taken. I have this gut feeling KC is going to lose. I also have this gut feeling I'll be drinking margaritas and won't care. I will also predict that Zotinca could very well end up breaking Adu in two. Zotinca didn't have a great first trip to DC last year if I recall correctly.
Re: KC at Black and White Zing. Will Rasovic get some time out there? I guess the local crackerjack team of investigative reporters in town just can't get the scoop. I don't think he'd be thrown right into the fire as a starter, but if we get lead, I wouldn't be surprised to see him sub in for Zotinca.
I just want to say thanks agian to the KC Wizards for your glorious TV package. With everygame on tv in the metro area for everyone to see it great to be a Wizards fan. Special thanks to HDnet for picking up the loose ends for the Wizards to bad not alot of people can get those games.
Not for me I will listen to the opposition commentary than be at the mercy of that craptactular p.o.s.
Good god, I knew it was hard to get Wizards games on TV (which is why most people outside of KC don't see them that often, and therefore still think they still play bunker-ball a la the 2000 edition), but you'd think that if they chose one road game to televise, they'd jump on the Freddy Bandwagon and show this one. Of course, just to complete this "perfect storm," this is one of the very few DC home matches not being shown on either national TV (ESPN2, FSW) or our local sports channel (which would then be shown on the Shootout, or whatever they're calling it this year). The webcast radio guy is hilarious, but not entirely in a good way. He kinda sounds like he's on meth. A lot of meth. Still, he's better than Matchtracker. As for the match itself, as Wizardscharter pointed out, it appears likely that Adu will start on the bench (the rumor from the Washington Times is that Cerritos will get the nod), which is probably bad for you guys. However, if KC can take advantage of Convey's absence to run amok on the wings, they've got a good shot at taking some or all of the points. Still, I believe in the power of the Curse...you guys should pay Andy to stay away from this one.
Re: KC at Black and White [horn tooting]We'll see how thin the air was. In addition to every subsequent interview and video story fully supporting my suppositions, I'm still confident that I'll be proven right in the long run - that is if the thread hasn't been deleted. Also in my defense, I don't use alot of numbers. Some refer to it as seeing the story within the story.[/horn tooting] BTW, you're still an Engineer
Anyone notice that DC's 3-5-2 seems to be having some of the same problems our 3-5-2 had last year? Midfielders have to foul a lot to break up play because there is too much space between the midfielders and the back three [who are not really involved in play]. Also, there are lanes to run through to the right and left of the central defender. If an attacker can turn on move forward, like Ralph did on his amazing goal a couple of weeks ago, then there is room to run, strike, or pass. If the Wizards can hold DC and get a score during the first half, we can take all the points. Not only is Convey out with injury, Petke will sit while Brandon P. starts in his place. They will need the speed to watch Wolff and Arnaud. DC 0 - 2 KC. Wizards score before the half and get another before the hour to shut this one down.
