I'd say it's about 10 to 1 against the new format. For me it's too hard to read (small and pale blue), where is "My Bigsoccer" and the left hand column short cuts need to come back. Also the "like", "poke", "trophy" crap is aimed at a different demo than mine I think.
Huh, it did work, it's just bad page design--the link isn't underlined or a different color. But if you mouseover it, you see it (see the word "failed" in my previous post).
I'm a laggard myself when it comes to changing these types of things. One thing that I liked about the old format is that it was easy for me to read. The posts were squished together and with the 20 posts per page setting there was a flow (for me) in reading all that content. Now it’s all broken up and boxy. I have a hunch that the new format is going to save me a few minutes posting the attendance prediction contest. I hesitate to wrestle with it at the moment. But I did find a snazzy new picture of Roy Stalin!
So they shrank down the font, made the avatars bigger, and thought it was a great idea to have the post timestamps in white font on a white background. This layout has "Mactard" written all over it.
Has anyone figured out how to change display settings for threads. In old one you could change to have newest posts show on page one (instead of last page), which I prefer. Looked everywhere but can't seem to figure out how to make this change here.
The format may not have been broken, but the underlying architecture was stretched to the limit. I'm not sure if they had to go from VBB to this new interface to get a lesser load on the databases or not but they had to do something.
There is a [This is a link] "Bugs and Suggestions thread" in the [This is a link] Customer Service Forum.
I would also like to see much more than 2.5 - 3 post per screen w/out having to scroll. This is not anywere close to as fun to read as the old set-up.
I really hate that you need to hover over some things to see them (at least with my eyes). For example.I can't tell a thread has 3 pages until I put my cursor on the thread. I'm sure I'll learn to stop and check before I just click on the thread. Also, when reading a thread the date/time when posted is very light until you hover on it. Seems like really poor interface design.
Maybe it's because I still wasn't used to the old format, but I think this is an improvement. The old format seemed pretty antiquated.
