The Draw Quarter-finals Watford v Fulham/Burnley Southampton v Wolves Arsenal v Chelsea Sheffield United v Leeds United Ties will be played March 8/9. I thought we'd get the arse in the semis to be honest and then Leeds in the final - ho-hum We knew we'd have to beat the Gooners to win this thing, sooo its no biggy, bring it on, its about time we beat 'em - law of averages innit - and surely they cant win the double AGAIN!
That absolutely sucks Why can't they seed teams when it gets this late. No one wants to see a Watford v Fulham QF. They want the big boys in the last 4.
Re: That absolutely sucks I know what you mean - but every round has to have a BiG TV game - I'm pretty sure that is all fixed to be honest. Chelsea V Leeds or the Saints in the final
This is pretty much the final right here, and just happens to be at highbury...yay. I'm sure the boys are tired of losing to Arsenal by now. If we can't win at their place, at least nick a draw for a replay.
Re: Re: That absolutely sucks Ya know, over the years i have always though as much, others as well.Funny how there is always a big game every round. When the lower division teams are in it at the begining there is always the "fairy tale" tie as well.Arse v Farn-whatever at the begining. Away to Manure to go out of the Worthy cup when any other draw-even them at the bridge-would have seen us through to the next round. Now this. However, like you said, if we wanted to win it we would have to beat them at some stage anyway.I would have prefered not to be playing this game at highbury though as that without a question of doubt firmly gives them the advantage, rested players or not. That is my only groan about it.Tough draw.El Tel must be looking at a great chance to declare his first season in charge a success now.He must fancy his chances in a one off with the winner in a later round. Fucking snow is starting to get on my nerves now. We already had a good 3 ft on the ground from all the other snows since the end of November-then we had the record breaking 22 straight days below freezing (with the average daily high being 16, if you can call that a high)--now we have another 13 inches to deal with...roll on spring.
Todays champions league results (hence the reason i put the [R] in the thread title) Anyways, the arse draw at home after wenger pulls his by now familiar four striker trick at the end to try and win.Why you ask...well i don't know for sure but i'll bet it has quite a bit to do with them now needing to beat Roma to make sure of qualification to the quaters-on the Tuesday after they play us in the quaterfinals of the cup, because if they don't they have to beat Valencia away to do it, not an easy task by any means Couldn't have wished for a better result from that game, 'cept course for a defeat, but that was never really on the cards. Oh what an interesting twist this game has now taken.Wenger already said he would continue to rotate his players and rest some of his stars in the game against us. Now he has to think about which he values more-the Champions league or the FA Cup.To my mind i think that being as he is a foreigner, and i don't really mean that as a slight, more an observation, he will favour the CL.Thus he will save his strongest side i imagin for the Roma game. Either way i was quite happy with their lack of a win tonight. The Toon continue to impress-good. Beating the Hun was freat as it has the double effect of adding to our co-efficient ranking for keeping the 4 spots next season and after, whilst hurting the country that is in direct competition to take them off us. Plus it also keeps them busy as we try to cement our top four finish and gain on them.
Well, well, well Tonights results in the champions league couldn't have been scripted better to suit Chelsea for the game against the Arse. They still haven't qualified for the quaters-in fact the group is now wide open again.Roma absolutely stuff Valencia, at home no less and the mighty Arse are held to another draw by the dutch masters.Couldn't have worked out better for us. Wenger must have shit himself when he heard that Valencia-Roma result. Bet he now plays his strongest team in the Cl against Roma the following Tuesday. Still we will have a tough team to beat and at Highbury too, but, the odds are droping by the week.
