I listen to a radio station these morning that the congress soon will vote on the draft, in Vietnam basically they were draft from 18 to 25 year old's, I was in shock when they said they were going to draft from 18 to 35. If I was a young men in that year Group I would register to vote and make sure I would listen to both candidates' Good Luck
I'll make them a deal: You can bring back the draft only if you suspend the war powers act. If congress declares war, then fine. But there is a reason why the founding fathers did not give the president this power in the first place. Nobody should have been drafted after 1945.
This country won't need a draft if the Invasion loving Republicans would just enlist. But no. There is cheap talk about freedom and democracy and love of country and all that, but the Bush twins are at happy hour in Palm Beach, not Iraq if ya know what I mean.
Poor twins the 00 campaign all about family values, and today the President didn't take the time to attend there graduation, also disappointed on Laura Bush for not attending there graduation, only it could take was one hour Jeb Bush son his no Saint for reports I get , meanwhile Clinton daughter top of here class in one of the best schools.
As I understand it, there's a move to register, not draft, 18-35. And they're looking for 2 specific specialties, computer knowledge, and linguistics.
hmmm, im confused here.If its all democrats in the military then why did mcAuliffe and the his mobster cronies try to sabotage the absentee ballots in the last election? I served in the military for eight years, Ive been out for about 7 years now, so I cant fully say how it is now.But I know in 92 and 96 most servicemen I knew who voted, did so on a republican ticket. this also brings up another issue which certain black democrats keep blatantly lieing about.and that is the myth that most soldiers who die in combat are minorities.its decisive propaganda like that which needs to be headed off at the path and squashed.the soldiers who are putting there lives on the line are from a wide array of backgrounds.not all of them are strictly from the projects or the barrio or from blue collar white familes. My ex Girlfriends brother is currently serving in Iraq.they are far from being what one might call economically disadvantged. Both their parents are Doctors and they grew up in a very affluent St Louis suburb.and I know for a fact her brother serving considers himslef not only a republican but a supporter of Bush.
That's not what he meant. He's talking class, not political party. Nobody says that!!! They say that minorities are disproportionate in deaths and injuries. Not a majority.
That's in and of itself a lie, you unmitigated prefabricator, and you ********ing know it. Its also racist; its only "black democrats" who are raising the issue of proportional service, and/or raising it most vociferously? You'd better look a little beyond what Fox is telling you to think about the latest from Conyers and Rangel, and do some real research into the last 20 years on this issue in particular. I expect a correction of your clear malfeasance as displayed here in the next week or so.
He didn't say class, he said if the "Republicans would just enlist". Well, the large majority of our servicemen are Republicans and they vote overwhelmingly that way.
Once again that is backwards. A high percentage of military personel voting Red doesn't mean a high percentage of Republicans join up. The Republicans I know simply do not consider it an option for themselves or their children. To me, that precludes one from being gung ho about 'pre-emptive war'. To be fair, rich Democrats also do not consider enlistment a rasonable carreer path, but at least they aren't so enthusiastic about shipping everyone else's kids to the middle east.
Apparently, their public reasoning for this is they felt the extra security, road blockages, you name it that would come with their presence, would not be fair to the other families of graduating students. I'm trying to take their word for it and not let my disgust with how this country is being run get in the way.
Because I got draft, I hate it, I just don't want young men to go thru the same things I did, we should be going after Bin Laden, we just given these guy to much time to prepare another attack, we are using our resources on the Iraq War
I hate to agree with USAsoccer since he is my mortal enemy, but yeah, a draft is extremely unlikely, the Republicans know that instituting one would kill them politically for a long time to come.
another term for Bush, and we have to bring up the draft, at the moment we got no replacements for the troops send to Haiti, we are taking troops away from South Korea for replacements on Iraq, a mistake, we are tin without the help from the Allies, Bush got the Congress, the Senate very easy to pass the draft
The claim is not that a majority of combat deaths are from blacks, but that based on the percentage of population tha blacks and other minorities make up in the US, the percentage of those dieing in combat that are minorities is dispraportionally huge, the same goes for affluent versus poor as part of the population, the rich and white just do not serve as much as the poor and minority. And for as much as the Republican segment of that population like to wrap themselves up in the flag, that is rather odd.
On this one, I'm taking their explanation at face value. I think it's nice that they don't want to upstage their daughters' big day.
http://www.prospect.org/weblog/archives/2004/05/index.html#003014 USASoccer, this ain't the same thing as a draft, but it's close enough to forestall accusations of "lunatic fringe."
