I should try to get the bird thread going again. Dog knows I've got plenty of photos on my phone. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/bird-watching-thread.681524/
Wow, If you're looking for a vacuum cleaner.... https://www.sciencealert.com/record...t-caught-growing-at-6-billion-tons-per-second It's amazing to think about what is floating around in that "empty" space that this planet can suck up that amount of matter PER SECOND. If you could create something to suck up gold floating around in space at a rate of 1/millionths of this planet, you should be seeing any superbillionaire disappear from sight in your mirror
I liked Peanuts because it was ubiquitous. But it was like a mellow haha funny. My kids think it's mean! Lol. I preferred Bloom County, Calvin & Hobbes and The Far Side more.
For some reason, earlier today I remembered the cartoon Funky Winkerbean, which I probably haven’t thought about this century. Much to my surprised, it made it until 2022. Why, or how, I have no idea.
I liked it BITD. Doonesbury was the most overtly political one & was hugely influential Now I only see them in our cartoon thread or on bluesky/Twitter maybe. This Modern World is funny & scary at the same time https://www.dailykos.com/blogs/Tom Tomorrow
It was a golden age for comics. Plus you had Doonesbury, which was better than all of them, as well as the underrated For Better or Worse.
This is pretty much were I am. It is mean. Particularly Lucy to Charlie. I mostly read it for Snoopy.
My HS band teacher always had at least one Sunday color Funky Winkerbean taped at the entrance to his office. Hadn't thought about that in decades (nor the strip in general).

This monster in ND over the summer upgraded to an EF5 Additional investigation by weather service meteorologists in consultation with other scientists led to the upgrade, mainly based on the damage the tornado did to a freight train. The violent tornado tossed one empty train car nearly 500 feet off the track and knocked over several fully loaded grain hopper cars, according to the report. Its raging winds also ripped large trees down to stubs and inflicted “complete destruction” on one farmstead. The last EF5 tornado in the US roared through Moore, Oklahoma, on May 20, 2013. Twenty-four people were killed and more than 200 were injured after the tornado turned the city to rubble in a matter of moments. https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/06/weather/ef5-tornado-north-dakota-climate
