Periodically when I need some distraction, I re-watch the greatest movie pitch ever, courtesy of Patton Oswalt and Parks and Rec:
I love Patton. Yeeeears ago, my wife (gf at the time) and I went to see Aimee Mann and Sean Penn play at a smallish venue here in Atlanta. It was right after the Magnolia soundtrack came out so Aimee was playing all those songs. In between her and Penn doing a few songs, this comedian would come out and banter with the crowd, do a few jokes, banter with Aimee and Penn. It was Patton and he was brilliant. I was only vaguely familiar with him at the time but became a fan after that show.
His book about movies is great Silver Screen Fiend: Learning About Life From an Adduction to Movies. Terrific memoir about lis late teens to his late to mid-20s when movies were at the center of his life. Every kind of movie, from all over the world, not just geek-nerd franchise flicks. There's a great chapter about movies that should have been made, but for some reason the directors never got around to it. When I picked up the book, I opened to the middle of that chapter and I'm like. . . How the ******** did I miss this? I thought I'd seen everything by Godard?
Frankly, Mr. Chaski, since you ask You are a flatulent stupidface mod arse I do not mean to be so rude Still, I must speak frankly, Mr. Chaski Oh, you're so punny!
Ha, my sister's daughter's 7 yo daughter (in American lingo that's iirc a cousin) has begun her Krav maga lessons. My late father and my late martial arts sensei uncle would be proud about that.
Belligerent ghouls Enforce BS rules Stop endless whines Don't card cemented minds ASF leads the troops Monitoring us yoots Same old code since 1992 He does the tango Down the nape of our necks I want to go home I don't want to stay Giving up neg rep Was a bad mistake Mid-week on the cyber fields Sir thwacks you on the knees Knees you in the groin Elbows in the face Bruised egos bigger than dinner plates I want to go home I don't want to stay A lotta lotta posts per day
When it’s good, it’s great. When it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. Didn’t you go to college? Nope, that’s your great niece. Your sister’s daughter is your niece, so her children are great nieces and great nephews.
