I saw this and tuned into the game hoping to see it competitive but that isn't happening.

WTF is with that dumb Heineken commercial?
I could maybe understand using YNWA if it were Carlsberg, but Heinken?!?!?!?!

Can Clint Dempsey read? This is an honest question. He has a really hard time speaking when it looks like he's using a teleprompter or note cards.

It's disappointing the Koreans are such nice people.
Another opponent would be kicking the sh*t out of Neymar.

I know he had a tough upbringing and effectively comes from a trailer park - but yeah - he doesn't seem very literate.

You never see a big win from South American teams they get a big lead and turn off. If it was a European team it would have been 6, 7 - 0

I did not even watch this game...no interest in Neymar and Richarlson running around, flopping, and then rolling around on the ground...

I did look at the stats and saw that Allison came off at the 80th minute - hopefully not for an injury concern?

Nope - to allow the 3rd string keeper to get to say he played in a WC.

Alisson was man of the match - several brilliant saves. Not that Korea was winning - but they were top-class saves.

He made two really top drawer saves, two others that only PL/La Liga GK would make.

Any upsets on the final day of round 2?
Or should we go all in on Spain and Portugal?

I’d likePortugal to win just about as much as I hope Brazil wins…nothing against those two countries…it’s some of the players who play for them that I don’t care for…;)

It took a rocket of a shot through a crowd to beat him. You could see him trying to see past players for the ball when the shot came in.
I might have had trouble with that one.

took a slight deflection too. I think if it goes direct - the way Alisson was playing - he may save it.

Interesting that the bbc text said "even the great Alisson" was beaten by it.

Not like the beeb to be so gushy. :)

Anyone else noticed that some (all?) of the pitches are cutting up a bit badly? For only R16.

Morocco have created more chances than Spain who seem content to bore the opposition, and the world, into submission.

CR and BF...so incredibly unlikable. I hope Mighty Mouse (XS) and the rest of the Swiss knock them out.

Interesting watching Morocco’s fairly rigid 4-1-4 line up. With their number 4 acting as a stopper between the lines. It’s frustrating the Spanish time and time again. One of Morocco’s breaks could really frustrate them.

Now Spain has changed their tactics to falling over a lot…just hoping for That call.

Well to be fair they’re both working this tactic.

WTF is happening to our game???

When English settlers brought football to South America the sport seamlessly transported, but the Corinthian spirit with which it was formalised did not. Integrating the game into a different culture which was not so conditioned to respect authority, the locals from either side of the River Plate approached it differently.

Flair was favoured over physicality, innovation over order and mischief over fair play. This style was known as viveza criolla – "native cunning" – and became a fundamental building block of football in Argentina and Uruguay. The anthropologist Eduardo P Archetti likened it to the tango, and wrote that it involved a "capacity to cheat where necessary".

That is viveza: knowing how to gain any advantage."

It soon caught on didn’t it.

Somebody score a bloody goal, I don’t care who at this stage. I don’t want to watch another round of PKs
I have a life to get on with.

Straight to PKs next time around. After a 90 minute bore it’s almost guaranteed we’ll get another 30 of the same.

Those Japanese kids were too tired to take PKs

And here we are again. :(

On one hand, yes. On another hand, I don't trust them to do anything vs Portugal (assuming they dive past the Swiss).
