Nasty tackle on Hendo by Ramsey. doesn't look good ..... edit: he's up and looks OK. phew. Trent on a few mins ago.
Rashford makes it 3-0. good strike but goalie should have had it, it went right through him. 68 mins.
Quite funny on the USMT threads. 25 minutes to go and panic sets in. Digging trenches and bringing on the busses. They got the job done though and they won’t sack the manager tomorrow.
Losing Pulisic hurt us, but I just don't understand the bunker and hoof it long tactic after dominating possession in the first half. Shaq Moore has been poor every time he replaced Dest. He passed the ball directly to an Iranian player who was yards away from anyone in blue today. Against Wales he committed 3 fouls in a few minutes and gave the ball away repeatedly. The drop off between him and Dest is massive. Still, we made it through the group, which I didn't really expect to happen.
I'm genuinely surprised the Qataris haven't objected to this .... https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/63801583 An all-female refereeing team will take charge of a men's World Cup game for the first time in Thursday's group-stage game between Costa Rica and Germany. Stephanie Frappart will be the first woman to referee at a men's World Cup. The Frenchwoman became the first female official at the tournament when she was named as the fourth official for Mexico and Poland's game last Tuesday. "We know the pressure," Frappart told BBC Sport before the tournament. "But I think we will not change ourselves. Be calm, focused, concentrate, and don't think too much about the media and everything, just be focused on the field." Frappart will be joined by Brazil's Neuza Back and Mexican Karen Diaz Medina at Al Bayt Stadium on Thursday. Asked if she ever has comments from players, managers or fans due to being a woman, Frappart said: "Since I started I was always supported by teams, clubs and players. I was always welcome in the stadium so I feel like another referee inside the pitch. I was always welcome, so I think I will be welcome as before." She became the first woman to referee a men's Champions League game in 2020. The 38-year-old was also the first woman to take charge of a match in a major men's Uefa competition when Liverpool and Chelsea met in the 2019 European Super Cup. Three women - Frappart, Rwanda's Salima Mukansanga and Japan's Yoshimi Yamashita - are among the 36 officials selected to take charge of games in Qatar.
I though USA played well in the first half - scored a nice goal (Dest to Pulisic) and had another ruled out for off side (it looked close to me, but, I couldn't understand the Spanish explanation and they did not show much of a replay on Peacock... Second half USA went defensive, and looked like they would give up the equalizer at some point, but were able to hang on... I was looking forward to seeing the young Reyna play in this tournament...I wonder if G Berhalter just thinks he's too young? USA has the youngest team in the tourney...the subs in the latter part of the game today did not add much...
His momentum carried him (quite hard) into the goalkeeper, who'e knee connected with Pulisic's "privates"...and no - I don't believe he is married...
ok thanks CB. jokes aside -- poor bastard. he is a very talented player but his talent is equaled by his inconsistency. you'll need him for Saturday's game.
my thoughts too Sam...he is still young though...and apparently he will be ready for the game against Netherlands...
My best guess re: Reyna is that Berhalter views him as a luxury player that will only play heavy minutes if we’re chasing a game. That hasn’t happened yet, hence the token sub against England.
It wasn't a knee to the nuts- the impact was actually higher and to the side. Officially it's a pelvic contusion. Essential a bone bruise to his pelvis/hip.
If Reyna isn't too young to young to star at Dortmund, he's not too young to play for the US. And Musah is not even a year older and playing almost all the minutes.
Kneed by the keeper it looked like. UPDATE: #USMNT forward Christian Pulisic has been diagnosed with a pelvic contusion and his status is day-to-day.
I heard (unverified) the the Saudi team players all received a Rolls Royce. And all Pulasic got was a kick in the nuts.
