Don't they try to rotate it around the various regions? We've got 2026 in North America, so Europe, Africa, and South America would have claims again before the Middle East gets a shot. Unless they're just going to bribe everyone knowing that it won't be taken away once it's been granted.
Corruption is ruining football. I wish players and managers would boycott Qatar, but they won't despite the appalling human rights abuses which have occurred there. https://www.npr.org/2021/02/27/9720...ant-workers-have-died-in-qatars-world-cup-pre
Suppose to but also suppose to not have it bought, played in the winter and result in many worker deaths. 1930: South America 1934: Europe 1938: Europe 1950: South America 1954: Europe 1958: Europe 1962: South America 1966: Europe 1970: North America 1974: Europe 1978: South America 1982: Europe 1986: North America 1990: Europe 1994: North America 1998: Europe 2002: Asia 2006: Europe 2010: Africa 2014: South America 2018: Europe 2022: Asia 2026: North America
I agree but unfortunately the real world intrudes. I’ve little doubt that those who boycotted, whether, real or via fake injuries would find themselves on a FIFA banned list and therefore no way to earn a living in football.
Technically yes. But Asia is a huge place and the "near east/western asia" is quite distinct from other parts. A truly fair allocation would recognize that. The initial comment was: Saudi Arabia want to host the 2030 World Cup The last "Asian" WC not in the Middle East (Western Asia) was 2002 in Japan. Will have been a 28 year gap by the time 2030 rolls around. Main regions North Asia. Central Asia. Western Asia (Near East) South Asia. East Asia (Far East) Southeast Asia I have no idea what bids were made at any point so that is also a factor.
WC has been in Asia twice in the last 20 years. 2002 and 2022. However, it is a facilities issue. When you take away the fact that it shouldn;t be allowed in China or Saudi Arabia, and India doesn;t have the Stadia..... Maybe Indonesia...???
Sure, all the nice patterns on the shirts look nice except you can't see that on TV, which is where most of us see them. But the idea is to sell shirts, not faithfully represent your country's colors anymore. And I don't care for the blue shoulders on the English shirt, they should be all white. And the dutch look pastel, bleah! And the US are typically poor - Nike doesn't hire fashion designers after all, they save money by letting the janitors design the shirts.
Think I'm gonna hijack this thread and do the best home and away kits (historically) for every team in the World Cup. I'll do a group per day. Let's start.... Group A Qatar 2008 2011 Ecuador 2016 2011 Senegal 2022 2017 Netherlands 1978 2012
I agree - I like the red - white and blue kits from France…simple, yet class… why can’t USA do something similar?
I'm just glad France seemingly went back to blue/white/red instead of the bullshit they've been doing for the last several years.
